Gearboxoutings manual vs auto

Hi, I’ve got a mk1 1990 auto, the crank has gone and I’m keen to keep the car on the road so I’ve found a spare engine to put in while I spend time giving mine a full rebuild. Does anyone know if the gearbox mountings for a manual are the same as an auto as the engine I’ve found is from a manual? Any help is much apriciated.

Thanks in advance

@beanus @gavin_naish is this something you might know??

@Marty_K will know I’m sure. Sorry I can’t be much more help.

Surely this is something that’s in the “Owners Workshop Manual”?

Thanks for helping, after a but more digging the engine I had lined up doesn’t seem worth the risk so I’m without an engine or car now. Leaving the question of search for a new gto and repair the old one at leisure or go without until an engine turns up.

Engine itself will fit, but you would need to swap over flywheel, clutch, and various other bits, like the shields between engine/gearbox.
You would end up placing them next to each other, and swapping bits over.
All very doable though.
