Also try Admiral, they do insure with Mods.
But not grey imports
I’ve been with Sky for nearly 2 years now - their renewal last year wasn’t great, so I rang around, got a much cheaper quote and rang Sky back - they said provided I could prove the quote they would price-match it
I’ll be doing the same this year hopefully 8)
This is the one thing that really annoys me about insurance. If Sky could do it cheaper, why didn’t they offer you that price in the first place. They all seam to be doing it now, offering a price and waiting for you to shop around before they will reduce it to whatever you have been quoted elsewhere.
They are all stuggling to make money these days, want to get as much out of you as they think they can, but also do not want to turn down business, just wastes time, but if you don’t do it, you get stiched :x
yes, not ideal but the trouble is insurance is such a cut-throat business to be in, we find our competition will always try and beat our best price by a few quid hence why we have a price match system in place.
Everyone hates insurance… unfortunately it is one of lifes necessaries :x
Ollie
Sky Insurance
Ironic thing is you are probably insuring the cars through the same insurers, so they are the ones who are losing out. Oh well, their loss is our gain
i was with adrian flux last year with both cars
gto with all mods declared £600
bmw m3 convertible £600
just had me renewals and they have actually gone down abit, both around £580 each.
most other companies wanted £1200 each. i know there crap when it comes to paying out but to save £1200 a year it may just be worth it. lets just hope i never have to test out there claims service.
sky would do the gto for £1100 but strangly would not touch the m3?
Cheers guys I’m going with Sky now
They matched Adrian Flux and I can keep my agreed value
smiles all round
Did you give AON a try?
They were great for our first quote, but whopped up the renewal…we are now with elephant and have been for the last 3 years …great deal with mods declared…and no problems as yet.
Angel
elephant dont like inports
Unless you regard insurance as nothing more than a legal necessity (i.e. your not bothered on the service you’ll get from them - or the price you’ll get for your car if it’s written off) I wouldnt touch AF with a bargepole.
I speak from personal experience …
Adam
Elephant also up your premium when you declare mods but include the condition that they will only repair it to original manufacturer’s specification.
So your carbon bonnet gets replaced with a standard one etc.
Great!! Call that insurance?
On the other hand Sky (through Ensign) not only repair to declared condition but they operate an agreed value scheme which can save so much trouble…
Damon Just got your PM will call you tomorrow.
Thanks,
Dave
Playford I don’t think this is right.
Now Sky will be able to tell us for sure, but I’d be surprised if they were using any other company that Ensign for their imported car scheme. I think it runs at nice profit levels for them thanks to owners clubs like this offering lower risks due to the vehicle being insured is a cherished one.
As for Flux, I think they have a few. reckon most of their business would go through Highway though, their account with them runs into £ms per year.
Ensign are underwritten (owned) by QBE. Highway and part of Lloyds so no, they’re not the same company.
Just to clear that up

m1tch999, I’m insured through Adrian Flux with Ensign so my last comment is right.

Hi I have just checked my policy with Elephant, i states nowhere that it will only repair back to standard, it may be because my body hasn’t changed but all my modifications are covered, with like for like parts.
Angel.
PS.
I am in the middle of a claim at present, for the bumper, they have already offered to repair the full damage and the respray of the damaged area, although this will mean i have to pay the excess, it is however on hold as i am suing the local council, through elephant for the damage to my car… I will let you know the outcome.

Well as any feedback all helps towards you guys choosing who you go with next year…here is my story
After 2 years of appalling disgusting service from Its for Me/ Highways i eventually got my bum in gear and shopped around.
I was insured by Its for Me at £530 F/C with 4 years NCB and up to 10K a year (daily driver), no mods declared and no agreed value so i would have got about 2K from them
Phoned Adrian Flux and spoke to a nice cool gent, told him i had an import GTO with loads of mods and i wanted an agreed value and my partner insured too…No problem he says. Expecting a ridiculous quote i give him the COMPLETE list of mods and told him i want a replacement of ‘LIKE FOR LIKE’ parts and a £7 000 car value.
£550 all inc
Just phoned them today as my brilliant previous insurers decided i only had 5 years NBC and not 6 ( told you they were ■■■■). Spoke to a lady and in about 2 min flat she amended the policy with no additional fees or any issues whatsoever. Now that’s how i want my insurance to be.
Adrian Flux all the way for me…
