GTO Vs Skyline Rolling Road Day – Sat 26 May 2007

Run the fto! Run the FTO!

Cheers,

Ben.

Some funny comments in the Skyline threads…

GTO Weighs 4 Tonnes!!!

You need to remove the GTO engine to do even simple maintenance!!

Mark,
I think you need to start a thread on the 3rd Skyline site also

Looking forward to this…not bothered if we beet them or not, but it should be a good laugh!

Can you just turn up as a spectator to watch this event or will you need names well in advance ? is there a limited space available for spectators?

I’m quite tempted to have a drive down and see some of our club machinery being put through their paces makes a change to seeing them parked up at a meet.

Regards

Craig

Sure! But why not run your car on the day?

Would be great to come down to watch ,

but untill i get the 550 injectors in and a fuel controller im only running 0.5 bar to keep the knock count down and inj duty cycle low , so there isnt much point putting it on the rollers at the moment. Once thats in place i can utilise the 13t turbos a bit more

will dyno the car once it is all up and running properly

Craig

 is it gonna be a fight for bottom as well as top :?:

Looking forward to this

Mike

It shows some of the misconceptions about the GTO, it looks like that guy was genuinely telling people a GTO weighs 4000KG, more than twice as much as a Skyline

And i’ve noticed a few are giving estimated power figures like ‘400 bhp, thats what the previous owner told me’. Well i’m not saying they aren’t, but we’ve all seen the 400bhp GTOs on Ebay with an exhaust and Induction kit being the only mods

With the ease of modding a Skyline and the tuning knowledge compared to GTO’s, the GTO club should get rinsed, but i’ve got a feeling we won’t

Dyno it anyway - it will be good for you to tune the car up from a known baseline.

That way you will be able to see the improvements with each batch of modifications.

Whats with the faces Kev?
Will you be running your car there? It was mentioned that you had over 600BHP, would be good to see some powerfull Skyline on the day.

Hope your well.

Mark

PS: I must get my bonnet of you!
Have you chopped up your GTO shell yet?

Dont know yet waiting on the new clutch. Its not fully mapped yet but at 0.86 its running 496bhp and will be mapped at 1.5-1.6.
Whats left of the GTO is still in the Garage,It`s all stripped out and its still heavier than my GTR
Yep keep meaning to put the bonnet in the box and phone James but still finishing this black GTO.

Hi Kev, its good to see you on the site again Mate.

Del

Well things are stacking up to be a really good day, the Skyline boys are getting a bit rattled but we have 10 from each breed for the shoot out, plus a nice mix of extras running afterwards (GTO’s, GTS’s, A Porker GT3, my friends F50 & maybe even Rob’s FTO! – I’m also trying to get my pipe supplier to put his latest Aston DB9 Race car on the roller too)

I will be ordering the trophies within the next week to ensure they are done in time, I have found a couple of places on the web but if anyone knows of a good supplier please let me know.

I will be dropping a deposit down to venue before the end of March so I will need to collect some money of you chaps who plan to attend.

With regards to attendance, it is great to see our traders and tuners step up to the mark and put there achievement on the line in front of the club. We have pretty much a full house with the exception of Sumiyaka and Powel Performance (is anyone running Powel at the moment?). Top respect to you chaps. :praise:

On this basis I think I try and squeeze out another trophy for GTOUK Trader Shoot out winner.
It might well be worth having an ongoing Supplier & Tuner Cup too? (I’ll write another post for this)

I’m still waiting for the hotel to get back to me with a better than stock rate for those of you who want to join the party!

I’m looking forward to a great day.

Mark

That hood is STILL up there! AND your still doing that black GTO! Kev you work slower then me! lol!

If your going to be at this kev i may pop down, i’ll get dad to pick me & Rob up so rob will turn up in something abit quicker then an FTO

This is shaping up to be a great event! Are there any standard TTs attending Mark? It would be great to compare the TT to the SC.

No, i can quite categorically state that there will be absolutely zero there from Sumiyaka. After you have continually slagged us off on every forum and even different continents, you really would not want to spend more time with me than is absolutely necessary.
However, i do wish you all an excellent day and hope you obtain some very respectable results.

Mark.

Oh here we go again. It was about this time last year that you accused me of slagging you off, I’ll say the same thing to you now as I said to you then.
Stop being a child.

If you claim I have slagged you of on ‘every forum and even a different continent’ back it up and quote the posts.

But if you want to go down this route, why not back up your tuning excellence and prove what Sumiyaka can do.
No one can knock your expertise when it comes to fixing or keeping these motors on the road, but as far as tuning is concerned you have not proven yourself in this area (or at least in my eyes anyway which going by your post, you probably don’t care about anyway).

Taking on work to fix people’s cars in one thing, but claiming to be gods at tuning is another.

You say you have graphs on a wall, well I have them on my garage wall too. Put one of your creations on a dyno (in public) or take one to the track. I’m sure if you deliver the results people may well get you to tune their cars too. (Yes I know you have loads of work and don’t need to tout for anymore).

I could write so much more but I don’t see the point.

My first comment stands – back up your allegations!

Mark

It certainly is!
Not sure about totally stock at the moment, hopefully someone will put their name down.

Graham (Gon4a) could do a run at wastegate boost though to compare?
His car is pretty stock engine wise, he does have a HKS Pipe and KN Filter though. Still might be a guide.

Failing that I have quite a few graphs of stock 9b cars to comapre against.

It would be good to overlay the Supercharged graph over the TT graph and millers NA graph to really show the differences.
