lol i think it was s13girly i spoke to and her friend with the little dog, i found them both friendly and helpful despite my jokes!
Dunno what happened to that Stealth girl? Lost in the metropolis i heard . Nah i think she was there in the end. I went off route myself to try and recover a couple of strays that went miles out but by doing sop i lost all the rest of the party , still we got to the Dome in the end.
I think giving up and going home though s13girly! Tut tut! lol lol
One point i think is if you want to do another run like that in London get some info from the ones that live there and maybe have 3-4 lead cars that know the route? Still not easy though with all the traffic lights etc.
But if you survived last night you would ■■■■ the London to Brighton runs!
Just remembered this incident…Worst memory…nearly being cleaned out by a MUPPET in a mini in a tunnel who thought is was sensible to lane dodge us all including that ■■■■■■ Merc Vito :evil:
I would also like to say what a great night it was, I was leading our little group and although I originally come from london, I have to admit that I was a bit baffled by some of the directions and the route that was given so in the end, after doing a bridge run as well, I found it easier to just put the name of the road that the tunel was on ,into the sat/nav,simple little cheat but it had to be done.
The funniest thing was that as we were going along on the first stage,we saw a car that I knew was on the run so I thought I would follow him to get us back on track but after a few miles he pulled over and told us that he was lost! That was when I started using the sat/nav so he jumped in behind me for a while and then just as we were getting back on track, he turned off somewhere, never to be seen again.
There were a few more funny incedents, one being at the first lot of tunnels, I missed the second tunnel as it was so close to the first so I carried on up the road to turn roand and had to end up going round the block and by the time I got back I was now some distance behind Mike and Julian so,gentleman that he is, Mike left a place for me at the front of a huge long queue at a set of traffic lights (we were using walkie talkies) and he called for me to overtake the lot and get back in front (the look on the faces of the drivers we overtook was a picture) but we pulled it off and it worked.
Anyway I am babbling on now but for those that didnt come , you missed out on a great night!
We have taken note about the, what we thought were good, but actually turned outt o be poor maps so will fix that and make it super easy for next time
Oh and yes there is going to be a next time, secretly Banzai magazine was supposed to be there on the saturday but due to unforseen issues last minute they couldn’t come BUT
We’re arranging again for them to deffo be there for the next one
We along with everyones help have pulled off the BIGGEST TUNNEL RUN EVER !!!
Though on the downside ALOT of the people taking part DID NOT PAY, thus we didn’t raise as much as we should have pretty sad when people rip off a charity IMO and worse yet that it was about a third of people that were running :o
Anyway water under the bridge I guess, we will be holding a bigger and more organised event soon in the future and yes with better maps, some on location signs to point you in the right direction and photographers in certain area’s of the route for good measure. Also more lead an pace cars as we came up a little short this time round
In short we want to get a few more people to attend and make it go smoothly without loosing peeps this time
Name and shame the non payers…everyone had a car in front or behind and was busy taking pics so post pics and its up to the car owner to come forward and cough up
Start a universal thread copy it across all the participating forums.
Its an absolute disgrace that people would stoop this low. FFS its only £4
Get some luminous stickers all the same colour & do a name & reg. check as they arrive, If youve paid, you get a sticker for the windscreen, If you havnt, then you dont get one, at least that way, we know who has & hasnt paid, unless they pay they dont get into the car park & then they can be named & shamed as they sit outside the parking area :oops:
