Hi, I have joined GTOUK (username Zasurus) but only yesterday (when I finaly purchesed my GTO!) but as its not gone though yet I am not a full member. And I seem to have hit some kinda posting limit of 20? I can’t get on any of the forum now and can’t do anything about it but start another account till I get my original account updated to full (3-4 weeks! :-O) Shorly there is a way of paying someone lots of money to at lest get my Forum account updated to full?
Please help I dont’ know how long I can cope without the forum AND my car!
You can always come to JAE and pay it there! I believe in certain circumstances paypal can be used - you would need to check with the moderators on that. Or James@Amber can take it too I think…
I paid by PayPal when I first joined and it was sorted in a day or two,GTOUK is the only forum im on where you cant get immediate membership online,is this something that could be looked into as 3-4 weeks as ive said before is a long time.
the options are to join as an associate member, hold off making so many posts before buying the car and then joining as a normal member, or (although this is also breaking the rules) paying to be a full member if you have full intention of buying a car (but dont put up a post asking this  )
its generally not 3-4 weeks, its the time it takes to post a cheque to Simon. I dont think he waits for the cheque to clear, as long as all the paperwork is right.
I have paid for a car now and applied for membership last night intending to send the check off on the way home but if I could pay by paypal that would be great I will even pay extra to get over any costs incured…
Where is JAE as I know it is this sat and I will be driving my new GTO (hopefully!) from birmingham (Where I am getting it) to london (to pick up my mates alloys and also run the newly refurbed engine and tires in a bit) and back to north wales so if its on the way or near I could come along for a bit maybe and join then? Can I do that (I mean come for sat evening and join there?)
Its in Peterborough mate, so 100ish miles from london. Getting back to North wales is pretty easy from there, A1 or A605, A14, M6 M56 and you are there. I regularly used to do it when the missus was at Uni in Bangor, around 3 hours. although that DTurbo 306 used to fly
Its usually pretty obvious why guys like this find enthusiastic ways to join this band of merry men, its not malicious, it a driven desire to talk to people like us, to vent some real passion about the cars and just to get a little bit of knowledge…I have to admit, although the guys that run this place do a ■■■■■■ good job, we should be able to make things a bit easier for genuine folks to join us…
You might have a fair point, but every one is given the oppertunity to join by sending their details and cheque and access is granted upon receopt. We dont wait till it clears. How quick an individual uses those twenty posts is down to them. The rules are there for everyone to see. Other clubs are not so flexible, for instance Porsche Owners GB, membership £65 PA, no access to any part of the site till you are a member.
usually you can find most things without needing to use the precious 20, i had 7 posts when i joined up properly by the simple exponant of PM’s and clicking edit on older posts in a thread i had made  I’d hate to join the porsche club to discover it’s empty :S that’d be a worry after paying £65 for somethign you can’t see.
It was being able to see how good this community was that made me decide to join. If they are trying to hide everything from ppl who are not in the club that sounds a bit like they are trying to keep all the knowledge to them self’s! :o I much prefer the idea of sharing all the knowledge freely and then let people choice that it is worth supporting and paying to keep sites like this running and getting the benefits at meets etc…
I think this club is doing a great job! The joining policy could do with a revamp but only to make it a bit more instant without costing much more money (Although I know I would/would have paid £5 more to join in 1-2 days!) and defiantly no more time of the ppl help run it.
Keep up the good work! I expect my cheque will be at the po box by now so hopefully I will at least have access to the forum! Hay Simon…

Hey Zas,
I was in the same boat as you, and Simon has sorted mine out, so yours should hopefully be sorted soon.
