91 GTO Sidelights on all the time!

Hi, I have a 91 GTO which has been running great - up until now!

Recently I found the battery flat and assumed it had just laid too long, however when I have trickle charged the battery and replaced it I found that the sidelights were on, despite them having been turned off at the steering wheel stalk. Even when I take the keys out the ignition they remain on. Looks like something electrical going wrong!

Can you help a newbie?

Sounds like a dodgy earth is shorting a voltage into the light circuit.

Thanks for the help. Do you know where the earthing points are?

Looks like one is in the engine bay near the bulkhead.

Do you have a foglight switch? Check to make sure it’s not been depressed, causing the sidelights to come on as well. As Max says also, and maybe a good look at your lighting/indicator stalk.

Good luck with it,

Mike

Thanks for all your help.

Spent a little time poking and prodding around and am happy to say it’s fixed but I’m not sure how. lol

Anyway. Supposed to be a glorious day tomorrow in Fife so a great chance to let her stretch her legs.

@dodgemonkey 's reply is a good one … might have inadvertently pressed the front fog switch
