Oh yes to anyone who does it age does not matter, all you have to pay is £85 for the course, it is as many lessons as you need then the test. It is an ex-policeman that takes you out for your test, and I passed mine in my GTO TT with a noisy exhaust. It has made me a much better driver, the good thing is if you fail you can still drive home and carry on with your lessons at no extra cost untill the examiner can fit you in again.
If you cannot find IAM school you can go to Halfords and ask for a Max power advanced driving package. The cheapest being £99 and the fast track is over £200, they then put you in touch with a local IAM school and you do not pay anything else.
