This year we have decided to not book a set evening meal, to give more freedom to the members in deciding where the would like to eat, and budget accordingly.

Taybarns - All You Can Eat Experience

Meet & Greet in the Hotel Bar at 12 Noon
Annual General Meeting - 1pm-3pm (approx)
3pm onwards - Eat, Drink, Chew the Fat and be Merry :lol:

As well as meeting up with friends and having a good time, please remember, this is YOUR platform to discuss YOUR club, vote on club issues or changes and voice your opinions and ideas should you wish to, so please make every effort to attend.

Once the formalities are over, this becomes a very social event for members, wives and partners, where we can all kick back and enjoy, what over the years, has become one of the best GTOUK meets of the year.

Nearer the time we will be inviting you to propose ‘Items for the Agenda’ so get your thinking caps on - and don’t be afraid to speak up.

If you could post on here if you will be attending, as it’s always good for others to see who is going, people you may have spoken to on the forum but never met and would like to, and here’s your chance.

That is Lel & I booked in for this event. Did it on line and didn’t post anything on the booking about GTOUK.

We have a double room with smoking facilities LOL. (That’s not an invite to the two Northern nutters mind) :wink:

To be honest, we thought that the breakfast was a bit of a rip off, so didn’t book that. Went on line and found that Frankie & Benny’s is 0.5 miles away from the hotel. Never heard of them or been before, but think we will give that a go.

Please can everyone make an effort to attend this event. It is getting smaller every year. Lel and I really enjoy it. One not to be missed! Lots of good banter. A lot of laughs and a chance to meet old and new friends.

Good find there Dejay, Frankie & Benny’s for breakfast looks good value.

We’ve have a couple of F&B in Sheffield, they are an Amercian Diner type restaurant.

I have just managed to book my room but it aint as easy as it looks.
First of all the number quoted is a central booking number and they aint heard of GTOUK so they are quoting £45.00 for a double room so call the hotel direct on 0871 9429021 and even then they will try to charge you £45.00 even after quoting GTOUK unless you agree to a non refundable advance booking so you pay up front on your credit/debit card and if you cant make it, tough! You still pay.
You then have to make sure you take that same card with you to show on the desk even though they have already taken the money.

The breakfast is an all you can eat buffet so £10 for two people aint that bad. I dont know what they are quoting for a single room or a single breakfast but I suspect they are charging the same price.

I think they mentioned that they have a pool but they didnt emphasize on it, perhaps because we aint staying long enough, and then they start plugging some kind of loyalty card. Blah blah blah

Having said that, Is there any entertainment going on or is it just a sit in the bar and get pissed night?

Yes Chazzy, nearly all hotels have this kind of policy where you can choose different rates with different terms and conditions, the £35.00 is pay up front and no refund if cancelled. Like you say, there is also a ‘flexible’ rate which costs a bit more, giving you the option to cancel and be refunded. This way it gives the individual freedom of choice.

Take a look at the link I put up to the hotel website, Facilites & Photos - Health & Fitness Centre On Site:-

“The Spirit Health facility includes a fully air-conditioned gym, with a range of aerobic and resistance training equipment. You can take the plunge in the heated indoor swimming pool or soak away the day’s stresses in the whirlpool spa”.

No entertainment organised this year, but as you know, it’s not beyond us to provide our own entertainment :lol:
