AON Insurance

Once again the insurance is due for renewal, and having searched high and low, I have returned to AON.

My renewal is a whopping £513 … not bad, but I’m gonna try and get them lower! Its gone up by £40!!!

31 years old, Full NCB, Reading Area, No claims, accidents etc, clean licence, Cat 1 … no tracker!!

Usual stuff!

Do you have a telephone number for AON?

Try them on 01384 455011
The policy you are after is their Roadster policy.
I have both of my GTO’s with them on the same policy.
Premium is £383
Age 31
Full NCB
No Points

Is this one of those companies where you have to be over 30?

When I was 17 I was told that insurance would be loads cheaper when I get to 21.

When I was 21 I was told that insurance would be loads cheaper when I get to 25.

Now I’m 25 and it seems like I’m gonna have to be 30

Maybe one day I’ll catch up eh?

Steve
PS Marty, I’ve got 3yrs NCD a garage, a clean license and my diesel Astra is 500 a year, so how the hell do you get 2 GTOs for under 400?

Hi guys. New 2 all this but had 2 reply… im 22 with a 91 twin turbo paying about £2100. Never complain bout ur insurance again!! lol

To Roadkill and Homer,
Guys, of course your astra diesel is more to insure, it has the same engine as the astramax van, and that, as everyone knows is the fastest car in the world (especially when white, dirty, a copy of the sunday sport on the dash and two rough looking twenty something builders in it!!"!!!

Hi everyone, I have recently bought an Imported GTO Turbo.
I have been looking around for insurance as my renewal is due.
I spoke to AON, but they said they cannot help as I wanted to use it to commute to work and that it was my only car !
Has anyone else had this problem ?

Hi all,

Just phoned AON up and they won’t insure me either because its not a second car, I won’t be using it for work as I walk, won’t be doing more than 6000 miles either i reckon… shame this as the garage recommended AON and some people on here have also…

Just told the garage about this and they are shocked as they send a LOT of business to AON apparently and have never heard this problem… oh well.

Chris

The dealer I bought my GTO off recommended them to me too. Haven’t tried them yet as we just changed the details on an existing policy and its due in Feb.
This is the trouble with insurance companies, they’re really fickle. They have strange clauses etc. Also, I’ve heard that insurance quotes can change depending on what time you ring up. Its something to do with quota’s etc.
Also, its amazing how many staff in the big companies are ignorant of certain things and their own companies policies!! When I rang elephant about getting my car converted to LPG, one person said it was a mod they wouldn’t cover. A few days later, I rang to confirm and they said no probs, it’ll just be £60 extra. And then when I rang after I’d had it done, they said they wanted a copy of the V5 and a letter off the garage who did the work.
After asking the person to get clarification, they just needed a photocopy of the installation certificate.

In short Chris, maybe you should try calling again, and see if you get a different answer, if you do, let me know how you get on.
