Ian at Westfield kindly fitted a blueflame exhaust on my 3kgt but alas it was not a direct fit and he had to spend many hours to get it to fit right. The result was a very high labour charge.
I assume this is due to my car being a UK car and not an import, however an indication (either on your website or to Ian directly when he ordered the exhaust) would have been nice to warn about possible work necessary.
Ian @ Westfield’s called me regarding the problems he was having with the Blueflame system we had supplied to you via him, at around 4.30 one afternoon several weeks ago.
I agreed to go over there the next morning and have a look at the exhaust with the intension of sorting the problem he had with the system by getting blueflame to replace either the faulty parts or the complete system.
However before I left to visit him the next morning he had called to tell me he had sorted the problems and not to bother visiting them.
Because of this I didn’t get the chance to either see the problems or have the chance to rectify them for you for free.
I also explained the differences between the Mongoose systems and the Blue Flame one and what needed to be done to him in great detail, including the length of the cat issue for cars that need them for the MOT, before he relayed the information to you i hope.
There is no Fitment differences, between the GTO and 3000GT all models all year (Apart from the NON Turbo which these do not Suit due to limited back pressure and the overall bore size of the system) so either of these exhausts should have fitted you car apart from the Catalytic Converter differences.
We have along with other UK retailers sold dozens of the systems with no reported problems either directly to Blueflame or from our customers previously to us. I know this, as i immediately checked as soon as i put the phone down to Ian with both Blue flame and as many traders as i deal/talk with.
If Ian had not modified the Exhaust system Alex, I could have sorted the problems with causing you any expense, whoever Westfield’s haste to give you the car back removed any chance I had of sorting the problem for you for free. I also was robbed of seeing if there was a problem or exactly what the problem was.
I will however have a chat with Ian on Monday and ask him if there is anything we can do.
Hi rob - so am I right in thinking that if you need to keep the cat on a 3000gt this exhaust is not a direct fit? Happy Christmas by the way - hope you have a good one.
anyways, Blueflame are based in Skelmersdale nr liverpool, i went up there and had my system custom made with the centre downpipe, cat replacement pipe and system for £600 i dropped it off in the morning, went into liverpool city centre and picked it up at 4pm!
you may as well just pop down!! and you can choose the noise level you want as it’s all custom!!
Yeah was hoping to get one off Rob at some point soon and just fit it myself but I think I will have to visit Blueflame by the sounds of it. Then again I’ve been meaning to go and see them for the past 2 years and still not got round to doing it!
Thanks for the swift reply and it’s good that you have added the note to the website. I can see from the replies that I’m the odd one out. Have you managed to speak to Ian?
I don’t understand why Ian would have had to spend a whole day (his own words when I went to pick up the car on last saturday 19/12) to fit the exhaust if it has no problems fitting? And if as Ian said the problem was sorted, was there any enquiry into how he solved it? I was not notified of the issue until after the fitment was made.
There was no rush as I had told him at the time that I wouldn’t be able to pick it up till a couple of weeks later. There should have been plenty of opportunities to mend the matter.
Either the exhaust was a weird one off the line or I’ve been lied to about the amount of work necessary…
if you can take sum pics of work done on exhaust and let use all have a look and be able to give opinion on subject £300 is a lot just for differences in cat length and what was needed to sort problem out
Just a quick note - picked a blueflame quad exit up off eBay from a salvage yard - £250!!! Polished up like new and I’m really chuffed with it. Fitted my 3000GT no problem - only took 1.5 hours in the evening after work. Would highly recommend getting one of these if you are unsure - they sounds ace as well.
Spoke to Blueflame as I was thinking of buying one brand new - apparently they sell an adaptor which allows the exhaust to fit on a 3000GT so they should fit both cars no problem.
