classic typo
If an item hasn’t sold and the owner’s post is for example a month old, how do we get it back in front of people? Surely bumping is better than adding a whole new post / thread?
Surely if people want a part they will use the search function, so it shouldn’t matter if your post is a month old or a day?
The problem is that it’s not car parts that I am selling (yes I am the guilty one). Ok I do have a set of wheels that I need to shift but I also have guitar stands and amp stands that are surplus to requirements.
However I do have someone interested in the wheels and the guitar stands so clearly bumping the post has worked.
I will of course stick to the club rules and not bump said posts again.
eh? I don’t understand. Is there a no bump rule?
Looks that way
I can understand people might find it annoying if a post gets bumped everyday, but wouldn’t a “only bump once a week/month” rule be more suitable instead of a complete ban ?
Exactly. I hadn’t bumped mine for quite some time.
On the kite forum they bump loads. To be honest there is no comparison between the two forums. This place is so much more civilised and helpful. There’s a lot of kids on the Flexifoil forum and their only intent in the for sale section is to tell folk how bad their prices are. This is totally unhelpful to sellers, especially when the oiks who are posting the abuse don’t have any intention of buying.
I can’t see the problem with bumping??? :? How is it upsetting people?
BUMP
If you don’t bump it then I would guess you would have just repost (daily, weekly, monthly?)?
James
lol, bumping is a good way of getting attention for parts.
I hardly ever use the search function for purchase as you will end up with lots of parts that have been sold 1/12 mths ago.
I dont see any harm with bumping, its to be expected in the for sale section on any website in the world. If people get annoyed with others bumping a for sale thread on a website they need to get a life outside their P.C.

Yep- im thinking the same here!
Simon,
Who has complained about the bump posts or is it something that you personally dont like? Like others I dont understand why its now a problem.
I personally think having to see all the user groups that you have on your profile everytime you post two lines of writing is more anoying then bump posts! I have a 17’’ laptop and your one post on this bump subject fills the screen
off topic But is it posible to just have full member from say 04-09 rather then a list of years?
Pete
Maybe you should add it to the agenda at the AGM?
Then people can vote if bumping is required.
I think you’ll find it is aimed at people who come on and bump their posts every week. This then sends any new posts down the page, so the chap who has done a new ‘for sale’ post finds that it soon disappears and he too ends up bumping it.
If no-one did this, it would work.
The other thing is that if someone really wants something, look for it, if it’s for sale, then buy it.
Mark.
it would also help when items are sold the post is deleted or moved else where as that would clean the area up, nothing worst looking for items that end up already been sold. The problem is when the seller adds the ‘sold’ to their thread it bumps it up to the top.
That’s my two pence worth :?

This is a good idea I use my mobile a lot to surf the site. If someone is in a lot user groups it takes ages to scroll down past them.

Just imagine what it would look like in ten years time
I would have thought it easy to creat a link on each user group to see the full spec of each member :?:
