The links are there within the post to the original hosting site - which shows fine in the preview
Is there a way of stopping the caching and NOT replacing the images ? Appreciate this is a good idea to stop images disappearing in the future, no good if these are not available locally!
When Dean and Neil dragged over the old forum platform to the new, they encounted a lot of errors, because we didn’t have the means of hosting images in those days most of the images were hosted on image shack /photobucket. This is where the problems came in. The links broke.
Photobucket in particular are holding users to ransom.
I recently had an email to say that they will close my account and delete my storage unless I pay a monthly subscription.
ALL my images are statically linked to flickr pro account that i pay for - they are in the posts if i edit them - however the links are replaced with local copy links to gto.club, which arn’t working -
If i look at the raw layout from the from the first post for instance:
Heading - system Sep 2, '14 — downloaded local copies of images
My actual link as it was before 2014 (note this is now encased in < del > and therefore shows up as strike-through link
^^^^^ this is the link that is broken and superseded my flickr link
If I could edit the post I would, however its all locked now and the links that were replaced in Sept 2014 are no longer functioning
Yes, photobucket et al have been the most annoying thing for forums, hence hosting them myself so they are persistent - I have worked heavily in the IT sector for the last 20+ years and appreciate what the forum helps with, however its a hindrance in this case!
