Cant add an avatar

Tried several times to add a few different avatars but keep getting the message ‘The URL of the remote avatar is not valid’. Anyone else had this problem?

Are you copying in an code?

Adam,
For uploading photos you use… img link… but for the avatar you use the…direct link…Try it that’s the problem if you have sized the picture to correct size.

I just noticed Adam still has no avatar, so just changed mine and only worked using the :the direct link: and not the image link that I use for signature and photos, as I stated in above post. Is this the same for everybody or just me because my images are in photobucket or some other settings.

No Rob, you’re right, but you have to make sure the picture is small enough, it does tell you somewhere on here what size to use.

Thanks Terry,
I do say in my first post that it has to be sized, this size is given right next
to where you enter the link for avatar. I have just looked down a long list
of paid up newbies and many do not have a avatars, wonder if this is the
reason why. Another point when members paste in the link to help
newbies use photobucket it is out of date, says for links right click
on picture but now the links actually show on righthand side of screen.

Only trying to say that for some of us it was a bit of a trial to get up and
running with avatar and signature.

I know this post is in the wrong section but is it worth a new upto date
sticky being done in the correct section on this subject.
