Have tryed many companys, and none of them sell insurance to me,coz i am to young to drive such a car. I am 23, 1 year no claim bonus, 5 years driving license. Live in london. So i had no option, bought mazada 121, got full comprehensive and driving my 96 TT as my mums car ,coz my mazda “broken down”. would gladly pay 1300-1500 for gto insurance…
you tried adrian flux? they normally insure pretty much anyone! or try confused.com they will give you a quote no matter how much the price!!
Have you tried sky insurrance? I think we have a deal going with them as i mentioned the club and got a good quote
still don’t understand how your insurance comes that cheap… tryed SKY INSURANCE- have to be 25 ! to drive wechicle like this. CONFUSED.COM quated me happy : from 3118 to 4992. It looks like i will keep my mazda 121 and drive my mums ( which is 53 ) GTO don’t see another option…
i guessit really comes down to your postcode, and what you do for a living, these are by far the biggest influence upon your quote, well apart from age

As a fellow London driver, and in a high risk area (apparently) you will not get anything less than 2k TPFT. I think you’ll be even luckier to get insurance under 25 in london to be honest.
Try giving Keith Michaels a bell, they’ve always sorted me out in the past. But due to the size of the engine, it might be an over 25 policy.
Anyway, good luck mate.
Try Sky Insurance.
I’m 23, 2 years NCB, 3 years licence - £1,600 TPFT all mods declared.
strange, but sky insurers say i have to be 25 to get insurance . i see 2 options: register the car on my friends address in southampton,or keep driving it as my mums car with FC insurance for my mazda which i never ever drove.
Just a cautious word of warning, what you are doing could invalidate your insurance. Your Mum will have been asked if she is the main driver of the vehicle when she took out insurance on the car. She will also have been asked if it is registered to her, and if it is owned by her. If the car actually belongs to you, and you are the main driver, then she has lied and the insurance isn’t valid.
It might not seem likely that you would ever be caught, but there’s a guy on here who got pulled by the police on his way to work and given a producer. When he produced documents they prosecuted him for no insurance, as he was travelling to work - and his cover was social, domestic and pleasure, without commuting.
Be careful what you do with insurance.
Steve
Good point from Homer.
You must be TOTALLY honest with insurance companies, or they will spew any claim you may make!
Also as Homer points out, be carefull as to the legality of your insurance.
Iv been sitting on this thread for a day or so - wondering weather to reply or not.
What Homer said is totally true … and the guy in question was Lagersteer.
Insurance fraud is looked at in a very dim light by the OB.
What you are doing is illegal … and it’s called FRONTING. It’s a big problem for the insurance industry … and will eventually mean the closing down of all policies “3rd party any other car” bits. It is going to happen - just a [short] matter of time.
There was a huge thread on barryboys about this not so long ago - there were people who work in the insurance industry in there giving the facts, etc, so the information is accurate.
I dont want to sound too harsh … but if you cant insure the car legally then Id rather you didnt have it. You will be nothing but a liability on the public roads - and could land yourself in serious trouble if you were to be involved in an incident … or even just a random pull by a copper since he see’s a nice car with a young lad at the wheel …

Have you asked J@mes who he’s with? He’s about your age.
Mat
yeh he has been in touch - but remember that mine is UK spec and therefore far easier to insure at this age (thats why i got a 3000GT instead of a GTO)
and just to echo what has been said already - dont try and scam the insurance company so that you can drive the car - if there is an accident the chances are that you will not be covered and you may have to foot the following costs:
legal costs of lawyers etc when it goes to court
compensation costs (including time off work for other parties etc)
medical costs of anyone involved
the cost of the damage/value to the other vehicle.
your insurance company will wash their hands of you and you would be well and truely up ■■■■ creek.
thanks for the replyes, but don’t see a big deal about driving my "mums"car. The car is registered on her name, and she is the main driver with full comprehensive insurance ( for which i am paying). Its difficult to find the companys, which alow to drive another vechicle with TP ,but it’s still possible to find them, and i did. Is it an offence???
I live 2 miles or so away from you and im 24- sky will insure me for a highly modded GTO with an agreed valve. Id try them again- ask for scott, hes who i spoke with.
Pete
because if you are involved in an accident, the insurance investigators can ring your employers and ask your neighbours who is the main driver of the car…
thanks. will try again.
I am 23 and insure with sky and its about a grand fully comp with mods declared and an aggreed value, it is a 3000gt and I do live in a very low risk area and have a good job though, plus 5 yrs ncb and alot of experience with fast cars which can also make a difference to insurers.
It is considerably cheaper for me to insure a 3000gt twin-turbo then a GTO non-turbo, go figure
James is spot on. They will ask your neighbours etc who is the main driver of the car and your Mum will be in trouble as well as you and any claim will be thrown out !!
