so im going to view a gto next saturday with any luck in epping. are there any experts on the car that live that way that could come give it the once over with me? cz im very new to these cars still and will happily admit I dont know what common issues to look for. it is a well built car though so I dont expect there to be a mechanical problem its more the body work if anything. anyone able to help? I can obviously pay you for your time thanks.

Hi @steven6 @James3000GT isn’t there a buyers guide somewhere where prospective owners can download and read up on, maybe take it with them to view?
I’m no where near London, sorry
Terry
Hi @steven6
Yes there is a buyers guide.
When I first went to view them I printed this off and took it with me
James
cheers i read the guide when I first joined but i figured nothing beats the eye of an expert on these!
Have a proper crawl around underneath and prod and tap around and look for rust on cills, floor pans, wheel arches, and subframe mounting areas front and back. look everywhere. take a screw driver to use to tap and knock around. They will know why you are doing it and if they dont want you to do it then they might be trying to hide something? If bad but you can sort yourself then fine but this cost usually determines the affordability of these.
Take lots of pictures and if in doubt put them on here for comment.
Check brake, fuel and power steering lines. have a good look at the lines on the top of the rear subframe for rust as this needs the subframe out to replace them.
Unless they have a receipt of a recent timing belt change etc then budget for one to be done and use that as a haggle point if all other stuff is ok.
