Hi. Advice please. I have a 1992 MK1. I was using it on a regular basis but about two years ago it failed to start. I pushed it into my garage where it stayed until a few weeks ago when I decided to get it going again. There is no spark at the plugs which I presume is the original reason for it not starting. I have replaced the usual components in the ECU and fitted a new ignition amplifier, but still no spark. It cranks over okay but I have noticed when it is cranking over the rev counter doesn’t move. does this indicate that the crank sensor is not working? All responses welcome. Cheers Gary.
Who repaired the ECU ? as it sound like that is dead if there is no rev counter, as the PTU gets the signal from the ECU and this then sends an output to the rev counter
where PTU come from as the non Genuine ones off ebay and such are dog shite chinese copies that don’t work properly and one of the symptoms is jumping revcounter
Cheers Rob
