Devon Car

Hi,

I am Rob Edwards and I run the Dorset Japanese Car Club.

I am in the early stages of organising a large scale Japanese car show to be held in mid July 2009 and you are among the 100+ Japanese car clubs I am contacting to gauge your interest in attending the event.

At the moment to my knowledge there is not a Jap show on the yearly calendar in July and there certainly isn’t one in the South of England so I feel there really is a place for this event.

The show will run for just one day on a Sunday and will take place at the Canford Park Arena near Poole in Dorset.

The venue is a superb location with the capacity to hold in excess of 2000 exhibitor cars and 2500 visitors’ cars. All parking areas are comprised of free draining hardcore with a rolled gravel surface then covered with a very thin layer of soil to enable grass growth which means there is absolutely no chance of cars becoming bogged down no matter how bad the weather has been. (I have of course booked good weather for the event already!).

In addition to the parking areas there will be a large arena area where I plan to have various events happening throughout the day to give people something to look at and also participate in.

There will also be various trade stands at the show and plenty of food and drink vendors.

I am currently in talks with local TV, Radio, Newpapers and national magazines seeking major coverage of the event and also hoping to have local radio on site to provide entertainment.

I hope to also have a mobile dynamometer so people can power run their cars, a show and shine contest for which I am seeking backing from both Meguires and Autoglym, and also there may be a Db Drag ‘Loudest Ice’ contest.

As I stated previously you are among the 100+ Japanese car clubs I am contacting to try and gain a little interest and enthusiasm, and I feel that with backing and faith in the event it will be a fantastic day and one for the calendar for coming years.

At this stage nothing is set in stone but without backing from car clubs the event simply can’t happen.

I would be grateful if you could give me your thoughts and if you think your club would be up for attending and a rough guesstimate of what numbers of cars you would predict may attend?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I would be hugely grateful if you could either email me back at the address shown below or if you wish please do feel free to give me a call for a chat.

I look forward to your reply.

Kind Regards,

Rob Edwards

Hi,

I contacted you a couple of weeks back regarding a car show I am hoping to put on next July.

I have received a fair bit of positive feedback about the event with many car clubs showing an interest and I am just contacting you again with a little more information.

The show is pencilled in for Sunday 12th July 2009.

A few people have mentioned that they would possibly be interested if there was camping facilities available. Sadly, due to spiralling costs and lots of health and safety/security issues there won’t be camping at the event, however, there are many, many camp sites in the local area that could be used and I would be able to supply a list of these.

Other people have asked about the venue, well there is little more I can tell you at this stage that I didn’t mention in the first email. You can see an aerial photo of the Arena by clicking the link below. As you’ll see it’s a fantastic venue!

Regarding car clubs attending. Advanced tickets will be on sale at a reduced rate for car clubs and each club will get a designated area for a ‘club stand’ free of charge. There will also be tickets for sale on the gate; however cars arriving without a club stand pass will be required to park in the public car park, all fairly standard practice for car shows really!

Entertainment wise I am having discussions regarding use of an adjacent football field for an ‘inter-club’ 5-a-side championship. All being well there will be a dyno there too for power runs, and I am planning on each car club in attendance to have a selection of cars in the arena for ‘Parade Laps’ or something, basically getting everyone involved and seen! Also I am looking at a few things for kids to do such as bouncy castles etc… There are lots of ideas all waiting to be put into action!!

At this stage in the organisation of things I am seeking support from car clubs and any feedback and hopefully their intention to attend in some capacity as it is my personal money that will be funding the setup, hence if clubs don’t attend I will be seriously out of pocket!!

I would be very grateful if you could get back to me just to say that you like the idea and are fairly certain you would have at least a few cars attending, or indeed that you are not interested and I will remove you from my contact list. Also, if I am speaking to the wrong person perhaps you could pass on the correct contact information.

I look forward to your reply,

Kind Regards,

I like the sound of this, worth taking a drive for. I’ll take my motor, maybe we’ll take a couple more down.
It’s worth getting the South-West lot interested in it at least.
