European Meet

I have a work shell fuel card that allows me to fill any car, I will accept bribes!!! I reckon we could get away with about 10k on fuel

That is so wrong Gav. Iā€™m up for it though :stuck_out_tongue:

To ease the language barrier, does anyone on the forum speak french?[/quote]

Iā€™m happy with the South of France, but may vary my route there or back to visit friendsā€¦

Ewan

I am interested, but it depends on work at the time, also I speak french.
Jerry.

I had forgotten about fred62 being French and all that

We do need to get a date sorted, June isnā€™t the best time in my opinion as it starts to get more expensive as summer holidays approach. Late April (avoiding the Easter holiday) might be a better bet. June is also Le Mans time, so ferries would be expensive if the meet and LM were around the same time.

Unless we all meet at Le Mans?

Speak frogoise ? We didnā€™t conquer the world to have to learn new languages, no, let them speak English if they want our money.!!!
Might be interested, depends on the date really.

Mark.

My only French is I would like french fries with that please Best wishes Phillip (Silver Surfer)

Good point about the dates. Late April is good for me. Has anybody contacted Yves at all? I can email him to find out how much is already organised if it helps?

Good idea about the Swedish lot too. If this all materialises it might be worth dropping them a line too.

I just looked into ferry crossings from UK to France and a car with 2 passengers can go from Dover to Dunkerque in late April for Ā£38 return!!

I would also be interested. Iā€™ve had a quick look at taking a car on the train in France. It seems fairly inexpensive, Ā£130, Calais to Avignon travelling next month. Iā€™m sure it would be cheaper if booked 3 months in advance, but then it might be more expensive because of the time of year. Just a thought.

I emailed Yves yesterday saying that we would be interested and got this reply:

Hello

Many thanks for your answer.
From France Team this is sure that we will have people (we will be very proud to organize this International 3000GT Mtg).
From Spain is the same, the request is coming also from a spain friend of mine, so we can count on them
From Italy I have no answer yet, I have contact 3000gt.it, but I will try again ā€¦ be sure.

For the moment the project is just ā€œbornā€ and I have to finalyse with all of you.
WHERE ? (south of france is large !!!) ,
and WHEN ? (we think about June, but no final date frozen),

I will keep you informed and if you can open a topic on gtouk about my request and send me the link that I can follow it will be great. I will come back to you during Oct/Nov when we will have more clear the two first questions ā€¦ WHERE/WHEN.

Many thanks again. Y@P

I havenā€™t given him the link to this thread yet, I may email it to him later. I still think that Scottā€™s suggestion of late April is best so I will suggest that to him.

Totally agree with Chazy B and Jason.

Put me down as interested too. Gem and I have family in the north and central france so there can be some stop offs. My parents live in Massais on the west coast about half way down and wonā€™t mind being swarmed upon by 10 GTOā€™s for cups of tea and a break if it means seeing their adorable son. Just a thought, but if its a huge detour its not an issue.

i have been on this train when i was younger with the family, we had to leave the car in a car park and board the train, someone else then drove the cars onto the train and back off again

just so you know how it works
