Hi, my wife and i would be really interested in joining the group for the trip.
if you could maybe give us some more details that would be great.
Also, are kids allowed?
Thanks

As soon as we get the details they’ll be posted in this thread. The date hasn’t been decided yet.
I don’t see any reason not to bring kids, though unless they’re very young i’d imagine 1500+ miles in a 2+2 GT might be rather uncomfortable!
I have emailed Yves again and he is still waiting for the guys in Spain and Italy to get back to him. I’ve mentioned our ideas on dates and told him how to access this thread so as soon as there is any more news, I’ll let you all know.

Speaking French is not a barrier ! In general we allways find some words to understand each others !
And i think it’s more easy for us to speak english, than you, to speak french !
to go from Calais to Marseille for example
1000£ for this round trip seems correct !
I think it’s better to come and to stay let’s say 2 weeks to have the benefit of the “long” travel.
I will be present at the meeting if it’s ok with my boss at this date !
i stay at 60miles from Calais, so we could meet us at Calais with french owners of 3000GT. have a drink and drive together to the meeting point !
Cheers
Fred
Sounds great Fred. Thanks for the useful info. I’ve never had any problems getting by in France and my French is VERY limited.
I don’t think I’d be able to do 2 weeks as I spend most of my years holiday allowance visiting my brother in the States. I’d be very happy to do a long weekend though. Maybe over the course of 3 or 4 days. I’m sure the longer stay will suit many others but part of the road trip experience for me would be the large amount of miles in a short space of time. It means more time in my car

hope this trip comes together , will be lovely run , back in my teens used to drive to south france with my mates over bank hols , we left london midday and was on beech by 6 in mourning . dont think icould do that now ? any way looking forward to it
I got another email from Yves this evening. He is currently in negotiations with a place in the south of France who is very keen to host a meet. The town is called Cap D’Agde. He says he will email me again in January with some firm details on dates etc.
I’ll let you all know as soon as I hear anything more.
Staff
Ah, I just did a really quick Google search on the town and it’s also known as the ‘nudist capital of France!!’ So, top up your spray tan guys and mankini’s on standby!!
I think I shall be asking our friend Yves some questions!!
thats it im going on my own and going to start going gym again…
Cap D’Agde… Know it well
This is only about 90mins from a place my parents own - sorted!
Excellent, I think my friend is quite near also in Avignon… I’m sure I’ve been there before, but had no idea about the beaches, I was seeing the horsies and the salt…
Cheers,
Ewan
This is looking like a very strong possibility guys. Yves is currently putting together a blog that we will all have access to and it will have links to all the other forums involved and any other information such as ferry times and costs etc.
I’ll keep this post updated whenever I hear from Yves but so far, all the info we have is the meet will be at Cap d’Agde, some time in May 2011 and we are hoping for the meet to include UK, France, Spain and Italy

This thread has just caught my eye, and as someone with a fair bit of European touring under his belt, albeit in the black Jag, I can categorically state that a long weekend would be pushing it a bit. A week should be the minimum to appreciate the countries you drive through instead of just blasting through them.
The kind of trips we’ve done include a few trips over the Stelvio Pass http://www.redlineblog.com/top-gears-worlds-best-driving-road-in-detail/ in the snow… and thrashing round the Nurburgring to just name a couple of highlights.
We’d be interested, but as I’ve not found a job since being made redundant, it depends on what the future holds for me whether we’d be able to go.
As an aside, we’ve always used Tesco points to go via the Eurotunnel which saves a bit of cash for the money-strapped and in general, we’ve found June a good month to travel.
Thanks for the info Paul.
I’d love to try the Slevio Pass some time. My Europe trip last year was amazing and I agree that it would be great to take a slow trip and take in some of the scenery etc. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll have enough holiday time available, or the funds for the extra nights in a hotel so I will probably be doing the long weekend. That’s not to say that other people won’t want to do that though.
Staff
OK, we just had confirmation from Carlos from the Spanish 3000GT forum that they will meet with us too. Still waiting for a definite on the venue and date, I will keep this post updated accordingly.
Staff
We’ve just had confirmation of the venue and date for this event!!
Saturday May 21st 2011
Rue du Gouverneur
34300 Agde, France

A - Meeting Area
B - Camp site
C - Mediterranean Sea
Check it out on Google maps and you can see that it’s been arranged so that we can meet and park up in one great big car park. Its minutes from the beach and a minute or so from a camp site so there’s that option too!!
For those of you that might be interested, it’s the same weekend as ‘Foire au vin’ which is apparently a traditional wine festival and worth getting involved in while in the area (maybe not on the same day as the meet though, eh?)
Yves is also in discussions about a small tour of the surrounding areas (about an hour round trip) that will not only give the town a good parade of our cars but show us some of the local cultures.
This may even be accompanied by a police escort to help us get through the towns as a group, rather than all getting split up or lost.
I’ll keep posting as more information comes through.

** Updated as had a duplicate link **
Brilliant. When I get back to work next week I’ll be able to confirm my involvement. This is all starting to come together nicely. Better start saving for the fuel costs now
Im up for this as well, as i can combine it with a trip home.
Apart from Dutch i also speak French and German and a bit of Spannish so that could always come in handy
Any news on the blog Staff?
Just having a look at areas we could visit on the way down or back. An apparent ‘must see’ is the Millau Viaduct which is a 2.5km bridge and is higher than the Eifel Tower - plus it would be on our route and is about an hour from Agde.
