No probs Al, I’ll email him now…
Al, I had this reply from Yves this evening:
I had the same PB …
What I can propose is to share ont Chalet with me … I explain :
Sandy mother will only come for the night of Sunday and I Book Saturday night and Sunday night dur to this constrain.
I imagine on Saturday if we can help someone it will be usefull to have that in spare.
What I can propose is to reserve the same one from Friday night … in that case your friend can use it … is it ok ?
I an confident on You if you give me the green flag I do that on the week.
Hope that will help …
So basically, he is booking a place for Saturday and Sunday. He can book it for the Friday too and let you have it instead of him staying. If this is no good, then it may be best to just book your own choice of accommodation. Ilana, Grace and me are not staying in any of the listed places and it really isn’t a problem. They were only a guideline anyway.
Let me know what you want to do

Wow that is really helpful, he seems really nice. This is going to be a really friendly meet if this is anything to go by. Before I say yes, Rossi and Ewan, have you decided where you’re staying yet?
Both Yves (France) and Carlos (Spain) are very friendly and have a lot of experience of arranging meets.
We are currently working on the schedule for the day, which includes a good chat about our cars and clubs in the morning, a 1hr drive around Cap D’ Agde with police escort so we don’t get lost or split up at traffic lights etc and security to look after our cars while we eat at a restaraunt nearby (menu options and prices are to be posted here soon).
I can’t wait!!
Just a few little reminders for the trip, I’m sure we can think of some others between now and then.

OK chaps, it’s a little over 6 weeks now until we go!!
I’ve been in discussions with Seafrance again today and managed to keep the special pricing even though there’s only 4 of us crossing now instead of the rather hopeful total of around 10. I explained that we will all be going from Dover to Calais at the same time but coming back on different days. In order to give us a firm price, he needs to know what day and time we are all planning to crossing back into the UK. Can I have this info as soon as pos please?
All - Dover to Calais crossing: Thurs 19th @ approx 2pm ???
Staff - Calais to Dover crossing: Thurs 26th @ approx 5pm
Allen - Calais to Dover crossing: @ approx
Rossi - Calais to Dover crossing: @ approx
Ewan - Calais to Dover crossing: @ approx

Allen - Calais to Dover crossing: Monday 30th @ approx 1950hrs. 2 adults, no pets, no roofbox and funnily enough no trailer
Don’t forget to tell your mobile phone companies that you need your International Roaming turned on.
And check you have your locking wheel nut keys with you.
You will also need travel insurance or at least a completed E11 if staying in the EU.
Not heard of this before. My phones have always worked abroad before, has something changed then Mark?
We have had a few issues with Vodafone in 2011 where a staff member could not use their phone. VF said that international roaming had not been selected so the person could not make or receive calls.
I had it many years ago with One2One but never experienced the problem since.
Mark
Good advice, as a few mobile companies have turned this off by default now since more people are getting smartphones, and running up huge bills whilst on holiday.
Thanks guys, that’s something we’ll have to all check before we go. Although while I was in the States in November it worked OK, work could get hold of me whenever they wanted!! Grrrrr

how much, estamated is this going tocome to, ? simon
It’s difficult to say for sure but for me, my girlfriend and her daughter (7) the prices are approximately:
Accomodation (Cap D’Agde) - less than £200 for 5 nights
Accomodation (halfway) - Around £80 return
Toll roads - Around £100 return
Ferry crossing - Around £80 return
Fuel - Around £500 return
European breakdown - £40
I don’t see there being much change of £1000 for a weeks holiday if I’m honest but I’m sure if you wanted to make it cheaper you could. There is plenty of budget accomodation in the south of France too. Let me know if you have any questions or PM me your number if you want me to call you to discuss it.

thats not to bad. i amm steel considering it,i got two kids to bring with and i will have to stop at disney on way back.and its a long way for them in back at moment i am 50 50. will let you know decision as soon as SIMON
Would be great if you could make it too Si. I know you won’t be the only one bringing children so there will be lots of breaks for them to help combat the boredom.
It would be great if you could come along Simon, Ilana and me are bringing Grace, she’s 7. She’s SO excited about going over the tallest bridge in the world in the best looking car in the world
Seriously though, it’s going to be a pretty long journey for us all, particularly Ewan, he’s driving from Aberdeen the night before!! We will be making plenty of stops and we’ll all be in contact with each other the whole way. If any of us need to make a stop, we’ll all stop. The organiser in France has 2 kids and I’m sure there will be others too.
Would love for you to join us Simon, keep us posted and I’ll not book the ferry for a while…

I’m sorry to say that I won’t be able to make it. I wish you all a happy and a safe journey.
