OK chaps, I’ve got a suggestion for the half way hotel. We won’t be doing much more than just staying the night so I found one that’s cheap and clean looking and close to the motorway, has a reatuarant on site and free parking.

http://webbooking.louvre-hotels.fr/default.aspx?t=caa2a44afcbc0&s=PC&l=en-GB

Going via Hotels.com it’s £34 per night including taxes and fees etc (or that’s the cost for the 3 of us anyway). I have an account with hotels.com too so if it’s easier I can book it if you transfer the money to me.

Let me know what you think.

Perfect Staff, nice and close to the motorway. Cheap and cheerful but that’s exactly what we want. Well done

Cheers for the nudge staff! lol To be honest mate im fairly easy with where we stop and/or stay, it beats a bivvy bag under a truck anyday so… lol

It sure does!! (whatever one of those is   )

That’s it then, I heard from Chooch too so that just leaves Fred. I’ll email him and hopefully get the hotel and ferry booked by the end of the week

This time in one month from now, we’ll be in France!!!

It’s all coming together now guys. Ferry and half way hotel booked and payed for and reservation emails sent. Thanks for your prompt payment guys, you’ve made it all very easy

It’s not too late if anybody wants to join us last minute. Just let either Allen, Rossi, Chooch or myself know and we’ll get all the neccessaries done…

Hi all,

I’ve actually no news from the GTO owners in the noth of france. they’re always working on their car.
I think i will come with my brother and i will drive on friday. i will normally start at around 3:00 or 4:00 of the morning.

But as i have critical equipments to start in production at bridgestone, i will adjust the schedule if needed.

Take car of the vehicule speed cameras on the highway. it’s always difficult to drive at 130km/H (80mph) but the police will not give you a gift !

cheers.
fred

Shame you aren’t joining us for the entire convoy Fred, although looking at your timing you should be swinging past Bourges around the same time we are getting up and having breakfast. You could always link up with us at that point?

That would be great if it works out that way. Stay in touch Fred, would be cool to get you in on the convoy

I’ve PM’d you my mobile number…

So now we’re all booked up and only a short time away from the meet, I thought I’d put together a plan for where, when and how. We need to be at the ferry terminal in Dover at least half an hour before departure at 14:20 so let’s plan to arrive 13:30 so we can allow for traffic and any other hiccups.

I suggest we all meet up at Dover bound Medway M2 services, just after M2 J4 (A278 for Gillingham) for around 12:00 to leave at 12:30. It would probably be a good idea to all fill up at this point so we can get quite far into France before needing a refuel (hopefully).

http://www.motorwayservices.info/medway_services_m2

We arrive in Calais at approx. 17:00 French time and then set off for Bourges. This should get us driving through Paris at around 20:00 so the traffic should have died down a bit, then carry on through to the hotel in Bourges for around 22:00.

And relax….

Friday morning, we have a 4 hour drive to the Millau viaduct where we can hopefully park up and get some photos and then an hour and a half drive from there to Agde. We have to check out of the hotel in Bourges by 11am so if we leave it until then, we’ll arrive in Agde around 17:30. Obviously, we can leave earlier if needs be but I guess Ewan will want a bit of a sleep in that day. Allen, what sort of time would be best for photos on the Millau viaduct?

If anyone has any better ideas of a schedule, let me know as this is just a suggestion for now. We leave in 3 weeks today!!!

Just a thought on the fuel side staff, isnt it cheaper over the water?? just thinking about your point of filling up before we leave the uk, if the fuels cheaper that side would be better to fill up after the ferry. just a thought as im not sure on the prices

Rossi

I’m pretty sure that the north of France is about the same price as UK because of all the haulage firms filling their lorries before entering UK but I’ll get some prices this afternoon and post back on here…

Well, it looks like prices are very similar throughout France to what they are here in UK. In fact, the average is slightly higher than UK!! I thought it would get cheaper the further south we got but that might not be the case :frowning:

Ah well was worth a thought!

Yeah, definitely. There’s a Tesco just up the road from me, I think I’ll fill up there on my way to the services. Probably the cheapest in quite a distance.

According to my Shell App there is a garage selling V-Power on the road (A229) between the M20 and the M2, which is the route I’ll take to get to the services Staff is on about. I’ll fill up to the brim there. That way if we all fill up either just before, or at the first meeting ground we will roughly need another fuel stop at the same time. Will be interesting to see the fluctuations in fuel economy

Hi Allen,

I’ll have to get that app, I’ll be following you in for Vpower also

Cheers,
Ewan

Brill, the App also works across Europe so we might be able to plan ahead and see where the best garages are to stop at. That’ll keep our motors purring
