For young drivers

Hey all, i was just curious to see how many young driver there are on the forum and what kind of insurance price you paid.

I’m only 24, and have 2 years NCB. My previous car was a little fiesta 1.6 zetec sport. When I was about to get my GTO non turbo, the first quote i got was around 3 grand! I was expecting to pay alot ofcourse but not that much! I thought to myself if I cant get it close to around 1,000 then theres no point in getting car. Eventually some guy rang me (cant remember which company he was from) and he maanged to find me a 1500 quote  The insurance company is called Ensign, so thats who I signed up with.

Having joined the forums after buying the car (doh!) I’ve noticed that Sky seems highly recommended  I guess il try them when its due next year.

Ranny

I used to use ensign for my motor bikes, always were a decent company with custom bikes…

Welcome btw

Thanks

Oh by the way, I forgot to mention that according to the postcode checker, I’m in a E zone (2nd worst) haha.

I’m 23 and sky gave me £1500 with no convictions or claims. I too was in your boat, having allready bought the beast i knew insurance would be more than my old mini-works edition. I too had 3k and 2.5k  quoates and started to panic  but sky came through in the end. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve always got my best deals through Elephant. Usually the cheapest and with the 10 month bonus accelerator you build up no claims in no time.

Im paying £1056 with SKY who have brokered for ENSIGN.

21 when i took the policy out, 3 years NCB and 3 points

I was gonna say as im with sky insurrance using ensign, £730FC (26 and 2 convictions :D)

yeah I would recommend sky highly for Insurance. I have conducted extensive research fo two years into various insurances and basically its all a rip off.

Different quotes at the start of month as to the end of month as different targets to reach, cheaper premiums for the very slightest of variation of your job title, adding other people to your policy with less experience and past claims actually reduced my quote with elephant by £300.00. Really you must negotiate with these guys, they are all there to sell you their product. Most large insurance companies are not clued up to price matching, discounts etc despite advertising claims on tv but the same is for all insurance whether it is for car or house. Go to the Independants and look to see what you can cut back on, then stick with one person in each company and negotiate hard. I ended up saving £800 in a year even after I had points for speeding and a far far superior policy.

My advice dont just jump into the insurance buying game, do your homework. I’d be happy to recommend some sites if anyone is interested.

i’m the same, i call about 40 companies when its renewal time.

for the sake of half a day and some calls i’ve saved between 500 and 800 for the past three years running.

flux once quoted me 1650 in the morning and when i got routed through to them by another insurer who doesnt cover jap cars i got quote of 1300 by a different flux department. same company, two prices.

well worth a bit of homework ;p

Or if you’re lazyy like me you could start at moneysupermarket.com for pretty much everything you want to save money on.
