Gearbox parts

Can i have a price for all the gearbox i might need if having it rebuilt:

Parts mentioned were:

syncros
hubs
gears
bearings

You have my VIN

and is £450 NOT Including the dropping/fitting of the box a good price?

I would imagine that the £450 is to lift the bonnet and have a look inside?

The synchro’s are about £55 each!!!

A complete set of bearings is around £250 ish

Seals are about £75.00

Most gears are from £250 to £500, dependant on the gear

The Hubs are from £350 to £600 again dependant on the gear.

A strip, clean output shaft and sleeve, new synchro’s and bearings with seals should cost you about £1400-£1700

Anything less and they are just pretending to be gearbox over haulers.

I have done loads of these like 30 to 40 now there are loads of differences between years and Mitsubishi list 5 different synchro’s for each gear,

Why do you think you need all those bits James?

Cheers Rob

That price was just for the labour, not including the removal and refitting of the box, any of the parts or any of the sundries.

Nothing makes me think i need all the parts, the third gear syncro is going (if i change stupidly quickly between 2nd/3rd there is a slight crunch) so i just thought i’d see what the prices were for all the parts, weather it was worth having it done whilst the box was out/apart. guess not!

guess it would be cheaper to buy a low mileage box than have everything replaced (not that my box needs it).

The guy said i would probably get away with just the syncro if it isnt popping out of gear or grinding all the time, and he does work for the local Mitsubishi dealership - its where they send their cars when gearbox work needs doing.

so, the syncro is about £55!

yes and i would do all of them.

If the car has done some milage , it worth doing the bearings and seals too.

If i can help give me a call, i have loads of gearbox parts in stock.

I must get round to adding the hundreds of photos i have for different items we now stock.
