General question about Buying a 3000GT 99'!

Hi Guys, My Name is Peter, and I don’t own a 3000 gt, however I’m about to be a proud owner of a 99,I think this car is amazing, but this is my concern, I usually drive 100 Miles a day, is a good idea to get one if I’ll put this amount of miles every day? it will be like 500 miles a week, if not I’ll have to stop thinking to get one. the one i want will have already 130,000 miles on it and probably will need some TLC maintenance but supposedly running great, I would like to get a Manual shifter in that way I avoid any further automatic Transmission repair and because i like it that way. but I would like to hear the opinion of you guys the experts before i take any decision.
otherwise, I’ll end it up with a Aveo hatchback… :frowning: .

is it the car reliable enough to be my daily drive? not hard shifting or racing, only driving… (Sorry my English)

thank you for your time…

I personally think the more reliable cars are the ones that are used daily , that said 500 miles a week on a car that already has 130k on the clock will soon add up , has the car got a reliable service history ? that is quite important when considering the mileage .

If your after a UK car then its a 3000gt and these were only available in Twin Turbo , all twin Turbo cars are manual , The imports are GTO’s these came in twin turbo , N/A manual (normally aspirated ) and N/A Automatic

Hope that helps a little

Thank you! you’re right, maybe is not a good idea.

Whilst Craig has some good points, there are guys that use them daily.
Any way though if treating yourself to a weekend car?!

Also make sure it is a true 99, there is a lot of them out there that are conversions.

Please have a read also of the buyers guide on the home page of this website

I dont think its a bad idea at all , the ones that sit for months on end tend to be the problematic ones , they dont fair well sitting idle

Could you maybe buy one and another run around to lighten the load , i did run 2 cars at one point , or as @Butler says could you make it a weekend car only

I have been using mine as a daily driver since day one, a good 12- 13 years later, very little problems reliability wise just normal wear and components. Problems only started when i started messing about with it, other than that as a GT car it’s designed to eat up the miles.

It’s no ford focus maintenance cost wise, but then it doesn’t look like one either. If you want it to work for you it will do.

I use mine as a daily drive doing around 50 miles a day. Its the perfect weapon for the job in my opinion. What Craig said about these cars don’t like sitting doing nothing seems to be right from what I have seen on here over the past year or so. That being said I am very conscience of the miles I am putting on the old girl and am going to be reassigning her to a weekend car very soon. Partly to save on mileage etc and partly due to a new arrival which will be here at the end of the year.
