A 20 post limit really isn’t going to be enough, better get my membership fee sorted tomorrow.
Are there any other sites you guys use for finding cars?
I have only used the more common ones like Autotrader, car and classic and Gumtree, obviously EBay but I don’t really like the idea of Paypal getting a “cut” if you know what I mean.
I looked in the classified section and I really liked the white MR, such a bargain. Shame I didn’t jump earlier on the 97 3000GT either.
Yes that could be right, if your after a mk1 I also know of a very good version that will be going for a good price probably 2k or less, they have spent a lot getting it right. Very similar a gto with lots of extras but not a special version its in black, I can get you details if your interested.
Further on from my last post, I did it! I bought a 1997 UK Spec 3000GT.
Could not see a spot of rust anywhere, the engine was nice and quiet with no knocks or ticks evident (was listening for a long time).
Gear changes are smooth with no skipping or jerky movements.
Ferocious acceleration although didn’t push it too hard as TBH I got a little scared, haha.
Wheels had been recently refurbished and look very nice.
The first 15 services had been performed by Mitsubishi I checked all the receipts and the timing belt was done at 59000 by Mitsubishi, it has a Cat 1 alarm installed, plenty of tread left on all the tyres and doesn’t have a single ding or scratch on any panel.
Last service was 1000 miles ago and had new discs and pads fitted.
All in all its a lot of car for the money.
The reason the guy was selling it was the previous owner chopped it in for a new BMW.
The only bad points are the exhaust and climate control, it has what can only be described as square exhaust tips that came on the old Lotus Carlton. These are welded on but I have a very good friend who said they can be chopped off and replaced to look original (panel beater for the last 40+ years). The climate control looks to have been replaced with what looks like the FTO climate control display but I guess this is an easy fix if you can find the proper control surface.
This car has not been modified in anyway at all (except the exhaust).
This thing is a beast when you put your foot down, Words cannot describe the fear I had when accelerating in third.
One question I do have though is how stiff is the clutch on these? I know it’s difficult to explain in words but seeing as I’ve never driven one before I didn’t have a reference.

Looks nice and unmolested Andy , Clutches can feel heavy on them untill you get used to it . The climate control screen was the updated version , some like it others prefer the original ones
