GTOUK AGM - Reading

The AGM has today been booked and is now confirmed as being on the 8th April 2006 at the reading Moat House. This is the same venue as where the AGM was held last year.

The AGM will be held in the same two rooms that we hired last year but this year we are going to try a theatre view with the seating. The AGM is programmed to start at 1pm.

For the evening’s entertainment the club has booked the night club next door. The night club comes complete with the hotel’s own house disco and door security. It can hold up to 200 guests so off course will be open to all.

From a catering point of view the hotel offers two different courses. A finger buffet can be provided at £10.80 a head or alternatively we can order a sit down meal at £24 a head. This might seem a little on the expensive side but bearing in mind the success of the Christmas dinner we thought it might be nice to sit down again to an evening meal. Unfortunately, they can only cater for 70 sit down and the menu is fixed, and is listed below for your reference. So I await with anticipation which course you would like us to book.

There are a certain amount of rooms available at the reduced rate of £69, (double occupancy inc Breakfast) on the web. After these have gone the rate goes up to £80.

I am still negotiating with them to block book 35 rooms at the reduced rate and will know more tomorrow. If unsuccessful I will post a link to the booking area so you can book independently on a first come first served basis.

I forgot to mention there will be a vegitarian option for those who request it.

Menu:

Cream of leek and potato soup topped with herb croutons

Oven baked filled supreme of chicken with a sun-dried tomato and mozzarella stuffing

Served with a selection of seasonal vegetables

Chocolate truffle torte garnished with seasonal fruits

Coffee & Mints

Having spoken with the hotel today we have been able to secure 35 rooms at the reduced rate of £67. This price is for double occupancy so we will need to know whether you want a twin room or a double room. There is no discount for single occupancy so I suggest you need to bring a friend. Off course this includes breakfast.

We have also booked a sit down meal for 70. This off course means that there are only 30 packages available as both Simon Baker and Paul Roberts, both of whom live locally plus Mark and Russ who have made other arrangements will not be staying over night but will off course be staying for the dinner. This may also apply to a couple of others so the ealier I know the better.

What this means in reality is that the club has today paid for the rooms so the first 30 people to send their cheques in for £115 will secure the package at this price. The rooms will revert back to standard rate of £80 thereafter.

Please send to GTO UK, PO Box 4951, Earley, Nr Reading, Berks RG6 4WA

Regards Brendan

If you are group booking rooms, then I will have one if not please let me know ASAP and I will book online.

Thanks
Mark

pub round the corner of course does pretty reasonable food, although definitely wise to book meals as per last year, would get a bit hectic otherwise

rooms currently at £69 for a double

Simon

Mmm… If the jungle drums are correct, that may not be the best idea going to the pub.

If this is the case can a comittee member please advise?

I had food (FOC as they screwed up our booking) in the main hotel and it was nice.
It would also be nice to sit together for a bit of nosh.

Mark

I will be there with Alison.

Can I have the contact details so I can book a room.

Vaughn

Will definitely have a room, not sure about food atm.
Thanks

Count me in for a double room. Sit down meal sounds good but if not finger buffet would be good too. Seem to remember long delays for pub grub last year.

Dave

Bren,

do you know when you will have an answer on if there is a discount on rooms available? if you can get a deal, put me down for a double room please.

I was speaking with them today but like I said in my original post they are coming back to me tomorrow. I’ll post up then once I know exactly what they can offer.

Personally I would prefer the meal option but this is only available if we get 35 couples

Hi Bren,

Andrea and I will be attending again this year, and we would definately like to go for the hotel meal. We ate there last year and it was excellent. Also can you please put us down for a room please.

Best regards,
Steve and Andrea.

I will probably be coming-are you negotiating single room rates for us billy no mates members-unless I can find a friend to share! If not I will check Expedia as they often do deals.

J

I am wanting to come to this. i am easy regards to food either one is good for me.

I am in the same billy no mates club so would like a single room if they do them.

Have you enquired about single rooms or just doubles.

Thanks Neil

I have enquired about single occupancy and that working out at £55 per roomas opposed to the £80 quoted for double. It may well be cheaper once I can confirm if they will do a deal.

Thanks Brendan-forgot to say I am not bothered about food I don’t mind either.

J

I’ll be there hopefully with my better half… not fussed about food, although finger buffet may give more choice.

Cheers

Me and Becky have booked time off work for this, thanks for the early notice guys!

We will take a discounted double room, plus the sit down dinner for 2 if there’s enough interest, otherwise the buffet will be fine.

Cheers,

Steve & Becky

Hi,

Me and Samantha will be going, food is good with us either way.

cheers,
Neil.

I will update the first post to accomadate the latest info.

Having spoken with the hotel today we have been able to secure 34 rooms at the reduced rate of £67. This price is for double occupancy so we will need to know whether you want a twin room or a double room. There is no discount for single occupancy so I suggest you need to bring a friend. Off course this includes breakfast.

We have also booked a sit down meal for 70. This off course means that there are only 33 packages available as both Simon Baker and Paul Roberts , both of whom live locally will not be staying over night but will off course be staying for the dinner. The 34th room is for Tracey (Skippy69) who has asked for room only.

What this means in reality is that the club has today paid for the rooms so the first 33 people to send their cheques in for £115 will secure the package at this price. The rooms will revert back to standard rate of £80 thereafter.

Is it possible to do a bank transfer into the club account?
All we need is the back account number and sortcode.

Would be a lot easier if it is an option?

thanks
Mark

Bren,

cheque will go in post tonight.

many thanks for the update

Simon
