Im wondering if any of the old owners are on here still. very interested to get more info on here J788 UNC.
Shes ok, looks nice but needs about 2k sinking into her
Brake refresh, new exhaust front to back and 60k service.
Im confident all can be done in house with exception to the cambelt. but will euroSpec2000 being so close ill let them do the 60k service and ill do the fun stuff
You can’t go far wrong with Eurospec mate. Exhaust wise have a look a few of the custom exhaust places around. They tend to end up cheaper with a better fit. And you can taylor it to be exactly what you want. I had one made on my old S14. Paid less than £600 for a full turbo back system straight through with a section around 18" long that I could remove with 4 bolts and replace with a silenced section all of which included in the price.
I went to longlife. But there are plenty of them. Powerflow, Viper (the one on my 3000GT the previous owner had done). Just a word of warning they are all franchises that just use the brand name so do some homework on the specific outlet you want to use. They are hit or miss but you can usually see some reviews online.
Hello mate, old owner here… Your new acquisition looks great, well done fella. I also own a “gentille” silver NA, and have done so for something like 10 years now. I still get a buzz driving her, and hope you get as much fun as I have had.
Most jobs on these cars are reasonably straightforward. I have replaced my cambelt - and my write-up about that is on this site, should you feel you want to have a go yourself. Ben and Eurospec are superb on these cars and you won’t go wrong taking yours there.
I also replaced my clutch, and there’s a write up on here about that too, should you start watching the rev counter sliding upwards without any increase in speed
My exhaust started to go home just before the big resonator box - the entry pipe to it sheared. Before I knew any better I’d replaced all 3 sections with Mitsubishi stock items, and that lot came to nearly £800. Recently I had the same thing happen, but this time I took the rear section off and took it to an exhaust specialist near me. £40 later I had it sleeved in stainless steel and it’s perfect. The problem is I don’t drive the car as often or long as I should do, and condensate builds up inside the tubing.
Any time you want to cruise out to Bucks, I’m in Winslow, and there’s another owner - with yet another silver GTO - based a little further up the road.
Well done, and enjoy the ride. Plenty on here to help you if you’re stuck on something.
The pump should be fit both. If you’re looking to source one, try Rob, Evil Empire Performance, on this site. He can provide you with anything you need for these cars. 01702 614469.
Catch up with you again soon fella,
