Hello (kind of)

Hey all,

I’ve been a member of this forum for a year or so now without an introduction or a post (how rude) but I’m finally getting into the position where I can actually purchase a GTO/3000 so I’d better say hi.

Long story, I sold an E type jag that was my grandads and I had been looking after for 10 years. There were too many family arguments about it even though my grandad wanted me to have it, but he died from alzheimers sadly meaning he didn’t put it in his will and I finally sold it a couple of weeks ago after getting tired of the thought that it would never be mine. But on the positive side I should have some money to purchase something that will actually be mine and that my grandad would approve of, he was always into his inappropriate cars and had 3 Lotus esprits in the 80s. I had to split the money among the family and I’m currently moving house to somewhere that I can build a workshop, but it leaves a small amount to hopefully get something, prefferably early next year.

Soo…I’m looking for either a UK 3000 MK1 or a MK2 at the moment. I think the MK1 looks amazing, but the 6 speed gearbox in the MK2 would be a benefit as I’m hoping to do a few weeks going around europe in the next couple of years and more relaxed cruising is always good.

Erm, I think that will do about me at the moment. I’ll get the paid membership at some point, but from what I can tell I don’t think you can get it without having a car, and Mazda CX5 doesn’t seem to show up on there?!!

Welcome on board, don,t rule out a gto, maybe a recent import if you can find a good one, could have lest rust issues than a 3000gt uk car.
Shame about the hassle fir the e type.
Good luck

I haven’t completely ruled an import out, but I much prefer the look of the 3000gt MK1s to the GTOs. I am not too fussed when it comes to to the MK2’s as they look virtually the same.

Yes, I went to the classic car show yesterday at the NEC and there were many many E types!

Hi and welcome to GTOUK :sunglasses:

Any questions just ask away or if you would like an opinion on a car you have seen just ask

Regards

Craig :grinning:

Ok, my first question…is it possible to get full membership without having the car yet?

@CDMH will testify that yes you can. He was a member here for a while (several years) while between cars. I have a nice Mk1 3000GT for sale at the moment. PM me if you want some details.

Haha, I did PM you!

I guess I could make up a reg and then change it once I have got a car

Yup just noticed i was replying to the same thread. Sorry. I’ve just replied to your PM.

I like a uk mk1 3000gt as well, genral question would not be hard to uk a jap mk1 gto?

The yanks would be the best people to answer that one. A few over there have put Europe front ends on they’re cars. Can’t imagine it would be that difficult. UK Mk1’s are definitely the best. Closely followed by Mk4’s.
