Hi everyone new the site, I was also going to ask if anyone could help me with whats the best gearbox oil to use for the 1994 gto non turbo? because i heard some oil are good to cure the common 2nd gear grind which i also have only when i downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear at 15mph above, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you use 75W90 GL4 gear oil. This is the one that it recomended in my Mitsubishi workshop manual .
2.4L Gear box
0.27L transfer box

There’s a partIcular one for worn syncros etc but I can’t remember which one it is, I’m sure rob will post up,when he sees. Worked a treat for me.

These cars are renowned for some “baulking” when shifting up from 1st into 2nd, and particularly when shifting down from 3rd to 2nd. A 75W-90 GL4 oil is the recommended one for these gearboxes. Real difficulties in shifting without crunching indicate wear, which will most likely involve replacing certain parts.

It was a long time ago, I always had a crunch when changing around 2nd gear. Seem to remember it felt a lot smoother and solved the problem. Of course since then I’ve changed oil again but can’t report any problems, maybe it was because my gearbox didn’t have any oil in it in the first place!!!

Welcome to the club. Is the issue constant or only when the gearbox is cold? I have trouble shifting 1st and 2nd at first but when driven for a bit and the car warms up it disappears.

Its more when the car is cold and i get it when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear, usually at 15mph or more.

Yeah but i am trying to see where i can buy the titan gear syn, i could only find in on ebay , coudnt find it in any local shop!

We stock Titan gear oil and do a complete Kit which i must add a NA one as the fillers and drain have a different thread to the Turbo cars…I il do this on Monday

If you order it add your cars Vin Number so i can make sure your get the right filler and drain plugs or call me if you wish on the numbers below next week and i will look after you

I was also wondering what type of power steering fluid do i need to use on my 1994 non turbo because i need to fill the power steering fluid up it a bit low?? Any help would be greatly appreciated
