Hi, noob member here

No the engine speed sensor is an output. It is taking a signal from the coil to the ECU from which the ECU calculates engine speed. The wiring harness from the PTU to the coils should have 3 wires. 1 for each.

There you go, the connector on the right is various inputs and outputs. The connector on the right is the one that feeds the coils.

I’ll post a pic when I get home as 2 wires go direct from the connector to the coils and the third goes into the main loom

There you go that might help explain it. So the smaller connector feeds 3 signals 1 to each coil. From the coil there is also a 4th wire which I believe is a ground. Is that maybe the wire that feeds back into the harness?

Max you’ve put right twice with no left. Sorry to be picky

Wiring diagram is slightly misleading.
Black/white wire comes out for coil 3/6, not blue/yellow, but becomes the blue /yellow to feed coil 3/6
Do a continuity check, an you will see that is the case.
Anyway, unlikely to be a wiring fault, although it is possible.
More Likely to be ptu.

There is a test procedure in the manual for the ptu.

Don’t buy a 2nd hand one.
Waste of money.
I got through a few, before I bought a new one. No problem since. My problem was usually accompanied by jumpy tachograph.
