Hi Rob

Welcome to the club. There is a technical section with sub categories for various areas but you need to be a full member to see them. First things first get some pics up and some details about your car!

I dunno @DeanMarkTaylor May know but if that’s his dept? You can use PayPal as a guest normally you don’t have to have PayPal account

As Dave says you can use PayPal with just your card details there should be a tick box option. It’s what I do when purchasing club show entries etc

Lovely looking car. If it is only running on 4 then likely culprit is either a coil pack or PTU. Easiest way to tell would be to work out which 2 cylinders aren’t firing (screwdriver on the ear trick should help there) then swap that coil pack with one of the others and see if the misfiring cylinders change. If they do its coil pack if not then chances are its PTU.

I’ll sort membership tomorrow I have a PayPal account just no money in the account it comes from til tomorrow, I found the bottom coil pack wasn’t firing so I bought a new pack and got no change so swapped with another pack an the fault stayed in the same place (didn’t move cylinders), this is an intermittent fault as it drove fine on all 6 yesterday but the day before was only 4 and today it went back down to 4

PTU - is that the transistor unit below the coil packs?

That’s the one. Sounds like the culprit if coil packs didn’t help. If you have taken the coils out then you will be able to get to the PTU easily. Just 2 screws and 2 electrical connectors from there.

Yea Iv had it off and cleaned the connectors it’s just weird that it’s the coil pack that isn’t fed directly from the PTU that’s faulty - is the third coil pack fed from the crank sensor?

Basically you require a PayPal account for GTOUK Full-Membership purchase, other shop items can be purchased “as a guest”, just using your credit / debit card.

If you have a PayPal account with no monies in right now you can still purchase a full-membership via your credit / debit card. Login with your PayPal username / password and the credit / debit card will just be added to the account to cover payments.

Later for any other PayPal payments for anything (not just GTOUK stuff)…
… if you have monies in your PayPal account (a balance) those monies will be used first, if sufficient funds aren’t available the (backup) card will be used for the rest.

This is made clear by PayPal before any purchase is made.

Hope this helps.

All of the Coils are fed from the PTU. The PTU has 3 circuits in it each one feeds one coil pack. Hence why you have lost 2 cylinders. I.E. 1 of the 3 circuits in the PTU has failed.

2 are fed directly from the PTU the third goes elsewhere in the loom from the PTU then comes back Iv opened up the loom to check this, the wiring diagram says engine speed sensor

Just want to be sure before buying the wrong part again hehe
