Just to stick my oar in really. Its not mentioned in the buyers guide so I thought I’d mention, just cos I had a bad experience. I’d really recommend taking a mirror on a stick, Rolson make them with little LEDs on, you can get them from [email protected] or @mazon.
Shove it under the sills and have a look for rust or welds. If you feel like taking one of the crowbars with the really bent back end you could have a tap if the seller will let you. Solid or surface rusted metal won’t have a problem with a wee tap but if I’d tapped mine with a crowbar a big chunk of metal would have come away.
Its always something I advise buyers for the Lotuses I work on, to have a good push at the door carpets at the ends of the outriggers to see if there is flakiness in the sills. Ideally I’d have them pulling up the carpets before buying. Lots of hidden gremlins fore and aft of the back and front wheel arches.
Can’t hurt when it comes to negotiation time and could save a bundle of bother.
