Insurance Shopping

I’ve just been getting a few online quotes from comparethemarket, confused and moneysupermarket since my insurance is due for renewal in a couple of weeks.

I tried messing with a few of the options and removing my mods from the policy reduced my quotes by nearly £1800!!!
This is the case even with just the alloys being different from standard.

Been quoted £508 without mods, when i add them back on (alloys and air filter) the same company goes to £2290!

Can get slightly more sensible quotes from other companies, around £1200.

It just seems ridiculous to me that an air filter can empty the bank like that

Some of the things insurance companies do are just mad, can we not just use common sense? would be much better if could have a sensible conversation with somebody and come up with a realistic quote, and take all things into consideration…not just fill in a few boxes and see what gets generated by a computer!

:x

Try Adrian Flux, did me some good deal this year.

Chris I hope you do get a satisfactory quote in time for renewal,
I don’t think anyone can be happy how the insurance companies operate. I just renewed mine and keeping it short after ringing around and using the compare sites rang SKY that im with and they priced matched on both my cars dropping by over £400.00.
None wanted proof of alarm(certificate) or info on the thatcham approved disk lock or club membership number and one company when I said to save money I will not use it for work(commuting)was told it would make no difference on the price…
