Interested in running in a new Entry Level JDS next year?

As per the title. Are you interested in competing in a new entry level class?

We, the drivers, are trying to convince Santa Pod of the obvious, that the prospect of entering the JDS Street class in too daunting and that is why we struggle for numbers. A class where most events see 9 or even 8 second passes and the expense for preparing a competitive car is too high for most people. If you like, the class has become a victim of it’s own success.

We began discussions last year but they started too late and never really went anywhere as the season was finished. This year I brought it to the table mid season. We are holding a meeting at Santa Pod after the racing at 6.15pm to discuss the creation of an Entry Level feeder class.

We are pushing for certain limits on modification rules too as we all know how expensive it can get. An Entry level class needs to be a chance to dip a toe in the water to see if you like it before committing large sums of money but still offer the full heads up racing experience which is quite different to the RWYB experience

The thoughts are that the new class will:

Inherit the name JDS Street and our current class will be renamed JDS Street Pro
Have an entry fee similar to the RWYB fee
Be a fully sanctioned MSA event
Act as a taster for new racers
Act as a potential feeder to JDS Pro
Be pump fuel only
stock transmission only
Be limited to 10 second cars and slower
Only proper road tyres allowed.

If you are potentially interested, please put your name below so that I can suggest potential numbers at the meeting on 17th August. As stated earlier, you are also welcome to attend the meeting.

André

I may well be interested.

Are we likely to need to run a cage?

Marty

As it would be NMSA sanctioned events, we would be subject to the general safety regulations issued by them.

I believe the applicable rule is GSR 4.10 which states vehicles that run 11.99 or faster need a rollbar, vehicles that run 9.99 or faster or terminal speeds quicker than 135 mph require a full welding roll cage.

I ran my red car this year which as you know is standard apart from .9 bar boost and managed 12.5 at 1:09 mph and so did not require any form of rollbar all roll cage.

André

If i get my car sorted over the winter i also might be interested.

Neil

Sounds good guys.
