I am returning after a decade of no ownership. I had a 93 UK 3000GT in Red unfortunately it was written off (not due to my driving). I am Devon based.
I am now at the stage where I am reminiscing about this car and would like to start the search again. I am in no rush and also appreciate I may not find what I am looking for anymore.
Happy to hear opinions on my chances of finding this spec of car. Happy to do some small restoration where needed.
Had some great help from Rob@evil empire back in the day as well so great to know he is still out there.
Same as above, all depends on your budget and how much work you’re looking to have to do !
I have a project which has been sat for quite some time because of life getting in the way which could be for sale at the right price, but wouldnt br cheap due to the ammount of work done as spares that come with it (big resto project)
Thank you for the replies. I have made a purchase and in a weird turn of events I have bought my old car. I will let the seller make themselves known if they want to.
Turns out the car was sorn and not written off after I sold it.
There is a lot of work to do and it will be a very long term project for myself and my son. The car has been sat for a long while and appears to have rust on the sills but other than that looks ok.
I know you all like photos so here are a few. Although I wont be documenting the journey of repair (or not) the updates some of you bring to this site are going to be both inspiring and educational for me.
That’s almost a dream coming true…well done bringing the car back home. Yep, you’ll spend a few £, but these cars still steel the show.
Good luck with your renovation work.
I too live in Devon,I have two GTO cars and have gathered a few spare parts over last 20 years so let me know if you are looking for something.
I do not know of any other members in this area? I happy to meet up and swap notes. I am also renovating a mk2 car.
These are getting difficult to find. You can buy new from 3SX in USA.Just Google 3SX Dodge Stealth or 3SX Mitsubushi 300GT and they list them ,approx 190 USD each, plus shipping and VAT payable after delivery.
Hi all, Thought I would take the time to post an update on progress. Unlike a number of you I dont have the skills to do this myself although I have committed to learn and improve. So for the rust and metal work I have used a local company in Devon and paid to play. They have cut out and welded the bad areas as well as removing front and rear subframes and sent for powder coating. The front is now back on and the rear is with the powder coaters.
They have removed the removed any protection that was on the bottom of the car to check for any other rust given the all clear and sealed the bottom of the car up again. I think it looks great.
I failed to get pictures but I am back there next week to drop off some parts so will get some and upload. As you may have read above this car is special to me for personal reasons not just that I love the car itself so seeing slowly come back to a usable and roadworthy thing is exciting. I still have loads to do before a MOT could be passed but progress made. The only thing I am struggling to get hold of so far as it is a Mk1 Uk Spec is the broken Front garnish reflector but I will put something on the classifieds and keep my fingers crossed. If there is an alternative to the clear I would love to know for MOT purposes.
Cambelt water pump etc going on in a few weeks I know the engine is not seized but whether it will run we will see.
Anyway thanks for reading I hope to be able to share more as I go through this exciting but nerve racking journey.
