Hey guys, thought I’d introduce myself , I’m from the northwest Preston area and I have owned my Mitsubishi gto twin turbo 1992 since 2023. I got it when I was 19 and still doing a few things to it. However recently I drove it to mot and since I got back I’ve been having a few issues and I’d like some advice.
Welcome aboard Liam. Well done for taking the leap into ownership of one of these iconic cars.
Fire away sir…….I’m sure many of us will be very willing and helpful to advise.
Mike
Thank you for the reply!
Basically the car hasn’t done much mileage (less than 50k) it was sat for a very long time in a dry environment it’s not rust or rotten. However recently I took it for its first MOT in a long time and it drove great but didn’t feel like any power then once I got back it started idling really rough to the point where the dash lights starts flickering
I’ve check the fuel pump and tested it seems ok , and I’ve changed the spark plugs still nothing , any advice?
Thanks
Liam
Have you checked your battery and alternator? My alternator went and no warning light came up. Rough idling happened.
I have changed the battery twice, but I haven’t replace the alternator
I should add that if I rev the car a bit it still misfires or runs rough but it keeps it running
Hi the alternator you can check if its faulty with a multimeter or a battery tester.it could be dirty injectors or failing ptu also see if the coil pack its not cracked where you push the leads into.i had mine cracked there and spark was arching and causing me issues
I was thinking injectors too , I’ve no cleaned them or taken them out and the car was sat for 15 years , I’ve taken the pump out and it’s working and I’ve taken the fuel filter out and changed it.
Is there anyway of taking the injectors out and cleaning them using a power probe or am I best to buy some new oem ones
You can send your injectors to be cleaned company like injectors tune if they been sitting for 15 years it’s not gonna harm getting them cleaned even if it doesn’t resolve the issue as they will put new filters in them and seals etc
