Is it possible to convert a GTO into a RWD car? Perhaps the conversion could include the option to convert it back to AWD again? The reason I am asking is because I interested in drifting but really appreciate the GTO / 3000gt bodywork.
Anything is possible with the correct amount of determination and cash. There is a guy who runs a gto / 3000gt with the engine in line and mate to a regular in line gearbox and rear diff. What the details are I do not know. It looks a very good conversion.
Unfortunately this is not an option with our centre diff as it will simply pit the power out via the path of least resistance. Also 100% of the power going to just the back would kill the t.case very quickly.

I believe the guy with the inline engine is running a 350z gearbox. As said its possible. But its not a case of removing the front drive shafts as you can do with impreza’s because of the Viscous centre diff.
The impreza also runs a centre viscous, you can’t just remove the front shafts, there’s a USA company that does a tube to replace the centre coupling, then pull the front shafts leaving the inner c.v in the box, and the outer cv in The front hubs or the front bearings will collapse
