Beachparty!

Thanks for the offer Dave, I may take you up on it - hangover/lack of sleep and lack of cold beer doesnt help matters!

Beachparty it is then! Are we putting this thread on lockdown?

I’m happy to go with the beech party theme too. As previously said it’s easy enough for everyone to do, so hopefully everyone will turn up in fancy dress.

Superhero theme is also an excellent idea. Maybe run that next year?

TBH I don’t realy mind what theme it is, so long as we know beforehand and I dont have to dress up like a nun!

Actually you do have to go as a nun…just watch out for one of the scottish party following you about!

Hi James…is it offically a BEACH PARTY.

i can start organising costumes…

Del is refusing to wear a mankini…lol
after seeing chazzy in his… not too surpised lol.

Let me know what help i can provided… i dont mind running a merchandising stall and raffle, if you want it.

Also i can take names and give out the competition sheets for the cars if it helps.( can the trophy’s be left with me on the Friday so we know where they are. ).

We now have a theme what about entertainment…eg Disco, karaoke, surfing, limbo dancing etc.

regards Dawn

Dawn, thanks for the offer of help, everything on the entertainment side is under control at the minute, but if i need any help i will get in touch straight away.

Marquee is booked/paid for
Hogroast is booked/paid for
Surf Simulator - we have had quotes from various companies
Stand - we have found a company who sell beachparty packs to dress the stand
Pool - we are looking into it. possible restrictions by the showground/organisers.

Excellent. I look forward seeing you all there in your attire then! Looks like I aint gonna have to buy much. Just hope it’s a warm weekend!

Dee.

In just over a day we have gone from

1… leaving suggestions for a week and then counting up

2… running a poll for a week

looks suspiciously like this was a foregone conclusion

what about a gto/3000gt club theme
gold medalions , hairy chests ,curley perms (for those with hair) - over 40 - blimey we dont need fancy dress  :frowning:
mind you the nun theme does sound enticing

all the best mike

both of which were suggestions by people who arent actually organising the event.

We had two main suggestions, beachparty and superheros.

from an organisation/people taking part point of view, its much easier to do a beachparty. everyone has a bikini (Im sure you have one somewhere stevie  ) and Im sure all the blokes have a pair of shorts/flipflops and can afford a fiver for a loud shirt from tescos. A superhero outfit to hire is £35, and thats providing you dont wreck it when pissed.

entertainment wise, we can have steel band music, surf simulator, possibly a pool, Hawaiian punch/cocktails (supplied by the club), get the stand dressed up for a beachparty style, limbo dancing. Any entertainment suggestions for a superhero theme?

Im always open for discussion, hence the thread but it swang from discussing ideas to ■■■■■■■ about and at some point a decision has to be made or all the events suppliers get booked up and we dont have ■■■■ all to do saturday night but drink, same as all the other clubs.

hi,
beachparty theme sounds great to me,
especially if it pisses down like it usually does, then we can all stand around in it.just bring plenty of towels.and a wetsuit.
cant wait,
…RUSSELL.

May i remind you all that last year the weather was fantastic until our little hurricane late Sunday afternoon… :bandance:

if we all wish for a heatwave then thats what we’ll get… :bangreen:

loads of suntan lotion required…as i got burnt last year.

I still think the guys and girls should swap costumes… i for one am looking forwrd to wearing jeans and a loud shirt with flip flops…

not sure about the limbo dancing though…anything envolving women and poles is asking for trouble… ( look out for Mas )

come on guys lets make it the best JAE yet…

Dawn

I know what is involved in organing this event James and like others I did put up a reply thanking you for your efforts. I’m sure you will do a great job on this one too.

The reason for my reply was, even though 2 members asked for Poll/Preferences, you slammed the hammer down before this took effect.

I dont doubt that if this went to a vote that beach party would be favoured as it is cheap and easy, but I do recall alot of people last year hiring cowboy outfits, even making them, so I wouldn’t underestimate our members in the effort they put in.
I did start a new thread relating to "■■■■■■■ about"on your post mate

Steve

well, the decision is made then. I was hoping super heroes or 70’s.
already gone through fancy dress shops and have a few on stand bye . deposit is not refundable but as it is only a 5’er for 4 outfits i cannot grumble. so its jeans and loud t shirt.a bit of a let down compared to last year cowboy outfit. Are we the only ones disappointed? For the records i know we don’t help with the organising as such, but we are hands on throughout the weekend!and the packing up ,we did hire the outfits last year and i had the gangsters and moll outfit in the car for the agm this year. I need to get a life and look on the site more often .
Bianca

Sounds like I need to put my nuns outfit away for another year…im okay with a beach party theme if thats the plan…but there were a few other suggestions earlier on in the threads…

Im hoping that the Scottish group will try and wear kilts on the arrival anyway…then we can tan our hairy legs!!!

As long as we have a good event I don’t care if we have a stark ■■■■■■■ naked theme…in fact…!!!

Mark

POLL NOW ADDED TO THE FIRST POST

we vote for superheroes or 70’s.
It is not in every ones taste or shape to walk about in bikinis
bianca and malcolm

any more suggestions on running the merchandise stall. Dawn and I discussed this and we are sure that between all of us we can run the stall and sell the old Merchandise to Joe public.
We will be there from friday night( you know malcolm he’ll be late for his own funeral) and we do not have to rush off this year for football, as the little nipper will be in jersey footballing.so we can stay till every one is packed up.just let us know what to do!
Bianca

What about dressing up as Neds?
Sorry, just a last minute idea…
I’m happy with beach party, I’ll just have to find a medallion to be a true GTO owner

I hope we stick with the beach party. I think it would be rocking - plenty of stuff we can do with it which has been suggested here. Also really like the sound of a pool…! I’m going to try and dig out my old body board for it as well.

Superheroes would be ok but then there is limited choice of costumes and activities that can be booked or planned around it - maybe better suited to an AGM? Also for the superhero camp if we go for a beach party then we will have a hero there - if Rob is there he can be the Silver Surfer…
