Great day yesterday.
Great to catch up.
Pity some couldnāt or didnāt make it.
Good turn out nonetheless
Was quite the walk to the stand from where I had to park my car!
Marty
Gutted to miss it, looks like a great turn out. Did the weather hold?
Got a mate giving me a hand this week. We WILL get the GTO to fire up and clear out the rubbish after flooding
Yes, we were very lucky with the weather, the rain held off all day and it was instead, a mixture of sun and cloud, but much better than we were expecting .
Good luck with the car.
Tracie
Yes, the weather was really good, despite the earlier predictions. I actually got sunburnt!
Great day out, and well done to all of you who made it there. Sorry to read that some of you couldnāt get there yesterday - there will be another time
Mark 6ā¦great to see you and have a good chat to you at long last.
Who owns the black beauty?
Mike
Hi Everyone,
Good to meet some of you at japfest! I was the one with the white GTO coming around asking questions
Good to meet you Angus, i had the silver one.
Nice to see you all - I managed to get sunburnt too!
I must say I was very impressed at how efficiently the entry to the site was managed. Mind you, we had arrived at Silverstone by about 8am (which is usually the middle of the night by my body clock).
I was also really impressed with our membersā cars too. What a great turn-out. Itās quite obvious that the GTO and 3000GT still rule in the looks department, and what is encouraging is the amount of effort that has been put in by our owners to maintain their cars in super condition. I was very humbled.
To finish the day off, I reversed old gal into the garage, and was just getting our household refuse bins sorted, when a youngster walked by, looking past the bins, into the garage. Only the front of my GTO could be seen. He said āwhat car is that?..itās lovelyā. I was taken aback at this unprompted comment from someone who must have been aged about 12 or 13.
I told him what the car was, and asked if he wanted to look around it, and he was really grateful, and very polite.
I couldnāt believe it.
This isnāt the first time this has happened. I have sometimes pondered how much longer Iād be a GTO owner, but out-of-the-blue encounters like this only serve to prolong my proud ownership.
Despite some owners having mechanical or technical frustrations at the moment, I hope many feel as proud as I do.
Mike
You must have had a very different experience to us regarding entry. We arrived at 8:30am and queued until 11. There was no signage once on Silverstone grounds and no staff to direct people. Iām contemplating not going back next year.
Although, like you, I am always impressed by our line up.
Yes, we wondering where you were @JoeB, bit strange that really because we arrived at 8.30am and got straight in and on to the stand, via lots of stewards directing us, maybe it was a different entrance .
There has been a lot of unfavorable comments on social media though about the arrival and departure queues, many saying they had to queue for 2 hours to get out .
How lovely @dodgemonkey totally deserved comments from the youngster I might add, but whilst we all know it, itās always nice to hear it from a passerby .
Thanks to those involved in the organisation and all those who attended and did us proud once again.
Tracie
Yes you must have been lucky at a different entrance. We were stuck on the A43. We were alright getting out though as we left at around 5:30.
Iāve seen lots of comments on social media about that too, but also about the sheer number of people around the cars, scratching them, slamming bags into them, etc. And obviously we had that unsavoury guy opposite the stand revving his engine.
Wondering if anything was gonna happen at beaulieu this year as a few of us were there last year but parked all ove the place .?
Thanks buddy thanks for spotting this
