As above… just a reminder as it was suggested that the info on auto boxes was worth making a
sticky by other members and can see this disappearing into the sunset…
Don’t take me wrong but there is little knowledge about the gto auto box and it does take some
time writing it all up and have previously posted a good part of this before to help another
member a few months back.
Great stuff. That is an astounding bit of work Alan, and I’m glad it will be more readily available to those whom might need to refer to it in the near future. Those photos support a class piece of information on the not so well understood auto box.
Whilst on the subject of sticky inclusion, could I ask whether it’s possible to do the same for my “Late '92 N/A clutch replacement article”?
MIKE As a N/A owner i think it is a must as in the new year i will be following it while i take the box out and fit the Fidanza flywheel and a uprated clutch. IAN can you do this for us please Best wishes Phillip (Silver Surfer)

Thanks Mike
It’s nice to receive feedback when you’ve put something together… I also want to thank all those
that also responded to my posts and suggested it was made a sticky and Ian for doing it

Good work like that deserves recognition Alan. I’ve been trying on and off for weeks now to put together a post on cleaning mk2 headlights and doing a robo mod with halo’s but time simply isn’t on my side. If it turns out to be half as informative as your gearbox one, I’ll be happy
I’m sure your post will prove essential to many owners for years to come.
I know what you mean about time to get round to writing up and placing an informative post on
the forum… 3 or 4 years ago I rebuilt a gto that was in a polices chase that ended up in a high
speed head on… not me driving the car or involved but bought it like it was… the basic car was
sound but an incredible amount of cosmetic damage and actually bought a complete front end of
a gto cut off by the barkers to rebuild it in my front garden… took around 9 to 10 months to
source the parts… then another few months rebuilding it…
I took step by step pictures as I rebuilt it which ended up around 150 to 200 photographs some
taken in places on the car that you couldn’t get a camera to without it being in many bits…
Got some great reference pics but like yourself never as yet got round to writing it up to put on
the forum…
Placed a couple of pics below so you have some idea of what was involved but managed to
rebuild the complete cat for just over 1k.
