We will be meeting at the Maidstone services Junction 8 on the M20 at 12.30 to leave at 1pm
ME17 1SS (google maps )
We will drive in convoy to a pub in Smarden called the Smarden Bell. Link to pub, with map link attached…TN27 8PW http://www.shepherd-neame.co.uk/pubs/pu … ll_smarden
We will have lunch and the usual natter with a generous amount of banter again no doubt
All welcome to join this growing meet… usually 20-30 people turn up   .
PLEASE PLEASE tell me if you coming so i can sort out with the pub. Last meet we had a shortage of seating places due to names not added !!!
They kindly block off our own section to park so our cars don’t get touched or damaged and give us a great big table to sit together and chat.
If you are coming please add your name…and if you need to pull out, let me know so i can amend numbers.
Im sorry Staff but is this post just to take the p**s as its on the same weekend as the AGM, I take it you think the AGM is not worth the effort then Rolling Eyes Well you at least cant use the old ( im sorry i have to work excuse ) There are lot of people who put a lot of work into arranging these club meets & all for no other reason than for you lot the members, Maybe if we all worked together then these may be a little better attended

I think you will find I arranged the meet for this date on ■■■■■…and Staff’s has added it here too. Its got sweet FA to do with what date the AGM is as it makes not one iota difference to me.

So you can wind it back in now…

It was never aimed at you Elton & there is nothing to wind back in, It doesn’t alter the fact that it was slightly on the insensitive side being posted up on here by a GTOUK member for the same weekend as the AGM, You all have a good day,

I know it wasnt aimed at me…But i think your post to Staff’s is a bit unfair/called for when it wasn’t him who arranged the meet or date.
I arranged it and he asked if i wanted it added on here too…I said ‘whatever’ doesn’t bother me.
Besides…theres no names down for the AGM who come to the Kent meet anyways…so this was all uncalled for in the first place :?

Back up there Julian, this has absolutely nothing to do with the AGM!! I put the Kent meet up here as it’s a very short drive for me and I know that many others like to attend it too. I didn’t even think twice about whether the two events were clashing because I didn’t give the AGM a second thought. Is that really so bad? It’s just not my sort of do. I know a lot goes into the AGM and I’m not taking that away from anyone but don’t take it as a dig just because I happened to inform the club of another popular event on the same weekend!! 4 hours south of the AGM!! It’s not like I’m trying to tempt people away from the AGM is it.
The last thing I want to do is take the p**s or be insensitive and as far as I’m concerned, I haven’t been.
Julian, I’ve read through this post again looking at it from your side and if I’ve upset you by this simple error then I apologise. I have removed it from the calendar and I will be sure that if I get involved in any meets in the future, I will check it doesn’t conflict with any other events. And in future, perhaps a PM with a simple heads up would be a bit more ‘sensitive’ than steaming in and accusing me of taking the p**s!!
So if your not going to the AGM then your not wishing the other GTO members to have a meet of their own to show of the cars they own in their own time and own money???
Were having a small get togetter down the pub for a few people that cant afford to go to the agm or its to far???
Is that soooo wrong???
At lease we are gettting the cars out and have a fun day out and getting the gto name out on these fine sunny days but nooooooooooo if your not going to the AGM then what everyone else has to stay in ??? cos thats what your making it out to be like…
Yes its on the same weekend as the AGM but why does that have to stop us
**It Doesn’t **
You should be happy we are going out for a meet and getting poeple from the club together not have a go at us
No need for any animosity - I think Julian was just saying that it might be easier to get people to go to the AGM if there weren’t other meets planned for the same weekend. That way, they could have a say in how the club runs etc, instead of moaning about things but not standing up and saying anything about it at the AGM (and no, I’m NOT saying that’s what happens at THIS meet - just a general observation).
Obviously, we are happy that members are arranging things and going off to meets.

Rant over. Prob same as my membership[/quote]
I am very pleased you are all having a meet but as Ian says you could have a meet any weekend but as it was arranged by someone who is not bothered about the AGM then its pointless me moaning about it, I made the mistake of thinking Staff had arranged it & put my mouth in motion before putting my brain in gear  I have since apologised unreservedly to him & he has graciously accepted it ,so lets leave it at that, as for you threatening to not renew your membership then that is completely a matter for yourself, Any member not renewing their membership would be greatly missed & a loss to the club, but you know your own mind & I wish you well in whatever you decide to do
Well Philip with an attitude like yours i am surprised you are welcome on any forum, if it was not for people like the committee on GTOUK or Mark & Steve on ■■■■■ none of you would have any sort of GTO/3000gt forum at all, You will find weather ■■ or uk a lot of members like to support their club & yes it inevitably costs money to attend functions or meets but some of us love our respective clubs to occasionally get our hands in our pockets & put our money where our mouths are & help out. An AGM for GTOUK is not a waste of time its a necessity & in such some members like to attend, as for this commitee on GTOUK & the organisers on ■■■■■ a lot of affort has gone into trying to make 2 good forums, so if you wish to not attend then thats fine, but think of all the people on both forums that spend time & their own money & effort making a forum for you to look at, Best wishes ( Julian)
To the members that done turn up at the AGM, don’t start complaining if there are amendments that are not to your liking.
When I first joined this club we didn’t have all this ■■■■ flying about
An update on this meet guys, the pub in Smarden is double booked this Sunday with a classic car meet and they will be using our spot. However, weather permitting, we can use the garden for our lunch. Alternatively, there is another pub just up the road that we can all zap along to should the weather turn to be, well, British
To carry on from some of the posts earlier, Julian and me have both apologised and discussed the whole situation in a an orderly and appropriate manor and we both could have handled this situation better. There is absolutely no hard feelings at all.
I hope the AGM is a roaring success as it has been for many years and that the organisers are rewarded with yet another great event under their belt. To all those attending the Kent meet tomorrow, I see you all at the services at around 12:30
