Keyboard based Reading Workflow

The forum has keyboard shortcuts, Press ? to see them listed.

My reading workflow looks like this when landing on forum.gto.club:

  1. See topic on homepage that catches my eye, or visit my notifications.
  2. Enter a topic from homepage or notifications
  3. Read through the topic from top to bottom k/j Move selection ↑ ↓
  4. r Reply to post, l Like post
  5. When I’ve got to the end of the topic I press again j Move selection ↓ into the “Suggested Topic”
  • The first items in suggested topics are those that you haven’t read yet.
  1. Press o or Enter to open that topic
  2. Goto 3. and repeat until no more unread topics.

I read everything (when time allows).

I use the mouse to click on interesting links or when I want to quote a specific part of the post I’m currently reading.

That’s pretty much it.

I think keyboard shortcuts are a little less relevant in today’s connected world. I think most people browse this forum on devices without hardware keyboards, such as tablets and phones. Someone needs to work out a way to capture screen swipes on a web page for shortcuts on these finger operated devices.
