This is my spare ECU - cost me £250 as a freshly rebuilt unit by the ECU doctor Ltd with a full warranty. Installed it to enable me to rebuild mine, but injector circuit went intermittent after a short drive (probably the original issue) so I sent it back. Repaired and returned recently, I hadn’t even taken it out of the bag except just now to take pictures.
ECUdoctor told me not to worry, they repair their units even outside warranty period, as failures are so rare. It’s well known the weak link is the Electrolytic Capacitors inside all of the ECUs which shouldn’t be expected to function for 20 years as even the best ones (Panasonic HQ Gold) only have a 10,000 hour life expectancy. that’s only 400 days non-stop operation…so maybe 5-10 years in average use. BTW, same applies to ALL cars, not just ours, which is why rebuilding ECUs is such good business-except when the Caps go, they kill other bits in there too…
This is one item you should have in your boot if you haven’t done the rebuild to replace those caps within last 8-10 years, as you ain’t goin’ nowhere if it fails
Part number on photo, interchanges with any Mk.1 TT 3000GT or GTO.
