Have a look on piston heads there are normally a few on there , if you find something that interests you post up a picture or the advert , we may know the car or be able to give you some pointers

That car has just been sold again , though it was a word of mouth sale I believe ,
I remember when I bought mine back in 02 there were not many about , a few years later there were loads for sale not many on the roads though and now we have gone full circle again

Welcome to the club. A £7k budget should get you a very tidy, well sorted car. There are 2 types of cars available. Dog rough ones that will sell for £2-3k and very nice ones that will sell for £6-8k. There isnt much inbetween. Don’t expect one to turn up overnight though. The nice ones are very few and far between. They don’t come up often and when they do they don’t hang around so stay patient and keep looking. In the meantime study the buyers guide in great detail. It will help a huge amount.

I’m looking to part with my GTO, however, it might be a little out of your price range, but i’ll tell you about it anyway, in case you want to splurge!
It’s a 1997 GTO twin turbo (Japanese Import). I imported it about 8 years ago from Tokyo and have had a stage 1 upgrade to it (undertaken by Eurospec) so it now runs at 400bhp. I have had the ECU updated to a Vi-PEC, so it actually has two maps, one for more fuel efficient running around town and the other lets all the horses out to play! 
I have also recently had a new Kevlar clutch fitted.
I have also spent the equivalent of the deficit of a small country over the years making it look and sound amazing! 
The engine was totally overhauled with chrome, aluminium and samco piping by Sumiyaka (see my background pic) and it has a full Alpine system with individual amps, double din touchscreen DVD player, subwoofer (with custom box fitted into the holding of the boot) and all top range alpine speakers.
It has done 60,000 miles and I’m looking for offers over £10k. So if you, or any other GTO’ers are interested, feel free to PM me.

if I was going to spend over 10k I would buy a skyline or 06 Subaru sti
Some of the well kept gtos are going for 10K plus.
Simon sold his for that. I wouldn’t sell mine for less than that, but then I know it’s had everything done with new parts.
There are some perfectly good ones around 7k even some good ones at 5k lower and you’ll have work to do.

Why the hell would anyone spend ten grand on an ugly slow scooby?.. And good luck finding a GTR for that kind of money.

On the flip side I would struggle paying 10k for a GTO. I know that we have spent thousands on them while owning them but for 10k it would have to want for nothing , that unfortunately will never happen , the are plenty of fun cars out there for 10k that would be fun without the heartache
