Maft pro cleared?

thanks for reply

yes laptop def communicating to maft it says all the emulating , connected stuff down bottom

on the o2 question , i dont know , i never set it up

Well after a long talk about dannys car we are going to look at a few things on sunday maybe- i know you said you dont like playing around with the maft pro but this is our thoughts so far;

We were using the stock o2’s to control the closed loop and this was fine but the car had the battery off for a while so the stock ecu would have reset itself which is probably why its throwing in much fuel then needed on cold start.
If we cant get it to fire like this we are going have to force the car into open loop like most people run the maft pro (unplug the stock o2’s) and try that but this is abit of an unknown as we have not changed the map down low as we have had no need to, so that part of the map may be too rich already- so we may have to take out fuel and/or change the afterstart %.

I’ll let you know what happens when we get round to looking at it. Sorry i cant be much more help at the moment!

i was going to remove the maft tomorow and fit standard injectors ,
will i wait to do this ?

i am not overly happy to be messing with this thing as i never had much luck before and nobody over here knows anything about them

Well it depends on how your car has been set up with the maft pro.

If it has the stock o2 sensor/s still in place then it would be ok to unplug the maft pro and stick 360’s back in but if yours is running totally off a wideband o2 then you cant remove the maft pro even with 360s in place.

But that doesnt change the fact that your car should still have its map in place any thoughts rob?
It could just be that you need to lower the afterstart % so it doesnt throw in so much fuel. Can you email me a copy of your map?

I really find it odd when people say that they cant find anyone who knows anything about the maft pro- for any good tuner who can work a map ecu or any piggyback it should take no time to understand as they all work in the same kind of way.

Can we move this to another section so that anyone with a maft pro could notice and chip in- were are all the other people who have them???!

i mentioned to Rob last about the afterstart, after having a chat with Steve (insane) we both agreed this could be the issue.

as the ecu has been disconnected it will try and teach it’s self again, if you have the afterstart on it will dump extra fuel in ontop of the map and on top of what the ecu is trying to do during its self teaching process.

my advise to you would be to take off the afterstart completly right down to 0.

if that does not solve it, note the low load tune settings and remove some of the fuel in that tune upto 2k rpm, that should have a noticeable difference in the afr!

Paul

when dans car first started doing it i we mentioned the cold start but had no way of checking as dans laptop doesnt want to talk to the maft pro.

The weird thing about dans is that it did drive around on the morning but kept dying when coming to a stop (idle conditions)- when the day before fine no matter what you was doing. :?

We have some things to try so hopefull it will run normally after abit of mucking around, want to start mapping with the new turbos on

where does this really leave me guys , i have no knowledge whatsoever on ANYTHING this thing does , you can muck about with it and maybe fix it

how can i when i know nothing and nobody here does either
i thought it was mapped and stayed that way

Unless you can send me a copy of the map then the only real advice i can give you is download a copy of the manual and take the time to read it. You’ll soon see that its not that hard to get your head around as the manual explains it all in a plain speaking way, telling you what each function does and what certain changes will do.

Your right, once its mapped it should stay that way but unless we can see your map we have no idea what the person who has mapped it has set everything at, so without being there its hard to help.

owning one of these things is impossible in northern ireland

i am very reluctant to tamper with it and mess it up

i may just remove i will think about over the weekend

anybody looking a maft pro?

Oxy, if you are looking for help locally, try phoning Marty at SSI. He’s in Northern Ireland. He’s a map ecu dealer, so he understands how piggy backs work and he should be able to help you.

He has also worked on gto’s in the past, although he is a supra man really.

Cheers,

Ben.

If the guy Ben H cannot help you send just the MAFT box back to me and i can take a look at what is loaded into the unit and then see if its around what you need to start the car.

I cannot however just give you a tune to use it needs to be set up to the individual car.

You are welcome to give me a call regarding this problem

Cheers Rob
