A question for the moderator/committee
Now that we have MORE THAN as a site sponsor does this mean they will be offering some form of club discount? Or have I missed an announcement somewhere

Hi Steve,
More Than don’t offer any discounts to club members that we are aware of, though it’s always worth asking them if you ring for a quote.
More Than pay the club an ammount of money for us to advertise them on the club site. This money effectively funds the club, and keeps membership fees down for all club members, therefore benefitting everyone.

MORE THAN WOULD NOT INSURE ME. I have 12 years NCB [unprotected] and was insured by More Th>n for my Toyota Supra Twin Turbo…when I bought my 1995 GTO NON TURBO last year I asked them to transfer my policy to it. They said and I quote 'WE DO NOT INSURE THAT CLASS [group 20] VEHICLE] I had to cancel my policy and go with ‘Privalege’ whom insured it fully comp £400 excess] for £335. My Supra with More th>n was £180pa fully comp no excess…so wot’s wrong here…???
I still use direct line…they seem to be pretty competative for our area of the country still. I had to make my first claim ever last year after writting my car off totally (not the GTO)! but got a settlement cheque from them for my Audi A6 Quattro Avant in less than 7 days. I also squeezed another £500 out of them for interior things like leather recaros etc. My quote for the GTO this months after all that (I didn’t have protected no claims) is £432 fully comp? I was thinking more like £800 so I am fairly pleased still!
I also use Lancaster Insurance for an old Reliant Scimitar, not sure what the cut off point in terms of age is (they like old old cars) but for than on classic car limited mileage it £98 for me and the wife!!! You need 4+ NCD though
I found this very funny, More Than sponsor this site but would not insure my GTO 1992 non turbo. I have 10 years NCB, a Laserline Thatcham cat 2 immobiliser AND a tracking system!!!
Ironically because of some difficulties I had to transfer my insurance from my old Honda Civic to the GTO which costs me a staggering £70PCM with £350 excess (they insisted) and £60 windscreen excess, what a con! If I was 18 and drove like a pillock that would be ok but 18 is almost a distant memory! I can’t wait till next April whens its due for renewal and I can transfer to a decent insurer for the car.
