Those pics of it on the strip look incredible Andre!! And the sound of it from the inside is great too!!
was you satisfied with your runs? what time did you score? nice pics
As requested Andre
Looked promising to start with , hope its not too serious to put right
Craig
Wow , its going to take some impressive driving to tame that beast ! The buzz from driving it must be amazing . Looking forward to seeing you destroy lots of challengers when it is all running as it should . Fast enough to embarass a veyron ?
Cheers guys
Had some promise especially with that lazy [email protected] which had a 2.2 second 60’ time! And a shabby 7.75 second 1/8 mile time @ 107.3 mph.
I cut a 1.6 60’ time on my old DR750 set up which was considerably heavier and it would cut a 7 second flat 1/8 mile.
So judging from that, there ought to be a 9 second pass capability on road tyres once the transmission is strong enough and the launch is sussed and the gear changes are done properly. Add to that the Mickey Thompson ET Streets and there should be more time saving for sure, so long as the transmission can be made strong enough.
On the 2nd run, I shaved 0.23 seconds off the 60’ (1.9) and 330’ (5.1) times even with that massive wheel spin. But by the 660’ I was already 22 mph down on the previous run, but only 0.11 seconds slower. That means that I must have been heading for a much quicker 660’ than the previous run
Distance Run1 Run 2
60’ 2.196 1.962
330’ 5.349 5.168
660’ 7.756 7.868
mph 107.3 85.7
As you can see I stopped accelerating at least 22 mph earlier but was only 0.1 seconds down on time.
André
Really like that video.
Neil.
Nice in car vids André. You really were skating on that first run. Awesomeness.
Here is your last run:-
Hope you get it sorted. I have a six speed box in bits here if you need anything internal. I also have a complete six speed but suspect you would smash it to smitherines!
Good luck with the dog box.
This was you first run - I love the kid’s reactions!
James
glad to see it made it through the day without too much of an issue cant wait to see it sorted and running on form good luck andre’
Cheers Boo.
Won’t know what the issue is until we get the box off and that won’t happen until they have my other box back.
André
Definitely! Consider the terminal would be quite a bit down because of
Baby launch
Bogged
slow gear changes
short shifted meaning I was running outside of the optimum power band
shift lights not configured
tyre pressures too high
only running around 2/3 of target power
Just need time in the car and some strengthening work. Remember that is the first time I had put the car in 2nd gear in over 18 months! Let alone launch it or use the new short shifter. Different pitch to the engine with a different power band (that may not seem important until you realize that you actually listen for your shift points more than you look for them). New clutch with a different biting point, engagement to the old RPS carbon carbon etc.
There’s a lot to learn. I know there are those that think they are being clever when they mutter on about racing is only valid if there are corners. I say try it in something where you don’t have much time to think and co-ordinate.
All I say to that is for them to try it and prove me wrong. They tend to use the lame excuse of ‘not my thing’. In other words, do as I spout not as I do because I can’t do.
André
There is just as much skill involved in making cars go fast in a straight line as there is in making them go fast around a track. I am sure that building something to do both only makes it more challenging. Anybody that thinks drag racing is easy should take the time to talk to the top fuel guys at the pod, the things they do and figures they quote will make your heads spin. Keep up the good work andre , i hope your bank manager likes drag racing
Impressive 1st runs Andre, I’m sure it will be a real gto icon!!
Tony
Thanks Tony, there’s a way to go yet to make it strong where it needs to be though. Perhaps even a total custom transfer box and gears!
André
do you think it’s a bit smokey? Looks like fun though.
Gav
On the first run it spat a load of milky oil into the rear catch can and it overflowed. It also dumped a load of coolant into the expansion tank which didn’t suck back!
We poured the excess coolant away and emptied the catch can and ran the outlet pipe from the catch can to a clear plastic bottle.
It didn’t lose any more oil or coolant after the first run. So we concluded that it was possibly over filled.
If you look it was incredibly smokey on the first run but manrkedly less on the next two.
We know what is causing this and it will be addressed next time the engine is out. There is a little oil coming from one of the intake valve stem seals on cylinder number 6. It’s not going to cause any problems until then so long as I keep an eye on that spark plug. As we are aware of it, it will be closely monitored.
André
cool, just know how much effort you’ve put in.
Great stuff.
I think its between the guide and the head casting itself Andre- which reminds me i need to check with sheady what the head guy said.
Cheers,
Ben.

This is very true. I get it in the neck all the time in the workshop cause the rest of them are into circuits. They think its easy, but they near poop themselves when i just humph mine up the road with them in it.
It does eventually become 2nd nature and you are sitting there thinking COME ON!!
Cheers,
Ben.
 The way that was skating around at over 135 would make most not wish to have another go! Most, except those with a screw loose eh Ben?
André
“if you’re gonna do it, may as well go all the way dude”
Cheers,
Ben.
