Hey all i’m new to the forum and this is my first post picking up my first GTO on monday and i’m looking for insurace basically its a 1992 automatic import am i right in thinking its a turbo? coz i thought it was NA  but all the insurance companys keep saying its a turbo? best quote i’ve got is £1600 i’m 24 5yrs NCB 3 points for SP30 and 1 accident 4years 11 months ago (soo close to getting rid of that ) and i’ll be 25 next month so basically is it a tubby or not :?: and is my insurance likely to go down much when i hit 25 and loose that accident next month?
It will be n/a , and i think most people find sky insurance good for prices , and if ya join the club you will get a club discount with them aswell
It wont be a turbo unless its been converted, but i highly doubt it. you are best off ringing companies, as most drop down website quote entry things dont support import cars. and if the info is wrong, they wont pay out.
have you tried sky insurance?
what you have been quoted is pretty high, I’m paying £1056 with 4 NCB, sp30 and two non-fault accidents within the last 5 years, Im 22.
welcome to the club, you came to the right place
Thanks for the welcome i’m migrating from the MR2OC  did try sky and they just said the quote was laughable but he’s gonna ring back tomorrow after getting hold of some different brokers, though i think the fact my area is a cat D doesnt help matters Also just got off the phone with someone from endsleigh and the dozy cow didn’t even know what a thatcham cat 1 alarm was
Sky is the way forward. SKYSKYKSYKSYKSYKSKSYKSYSKY!!!
OK sky rang me back this morning £1300 fully comp or £1000 TPFT, rang A-Plan and it was £870 fully comp  needless to say i’m now well chuffed
right now phone sky and tell them how cheap you can get it for and they will beat the price and offer you a better policy.
I scored fantastic rates with Sureterm Direct. I have the GTO insured as a classic car. Fully comp, I get static display, windscreen, salvage, 90 days Europe and some other bells and whistles …£352 and I live in Northern Ireland so for mainlanders it will probably be even cheaper.
NOTE: This insurance will not cover the car for track days … but then neither will most insurance companies …you also need to have cat1 alarm/immobiliser… they don’t do the no claims bonus thing so it’s perfect if you have your no-claims bonus on another vehicle (or have a low no-claims bonus)
I have 2 other vehicles insured with elephant. Sureterm beat their quote by more than 50%
good to know ,ill try them next month as sky quoted me 580
