New Owner! :)

Hi all o/

After a lifetime of dreaming about owning a car of this era and some careful deliberation I have decided to join the GTO owners club  Last week I picked up my 1992 VR4 and took her on the 250 mile journey home. She handled the journey like a dream and was a pleasure to drive! She was imported in 2007 and rebuilt/resprayed in 2025. I am all too sympathetic to my cars (to the detriment of my wallet) and intend to keep her in tip-top shape as her previous owners lovingly have.

For a bit about me, my name is Thomas and I’m 22, working in the software industry. I live in North Yorkshire (if there’s anyone else here within a reasonable distance I’d love to go for a drink!). I daily an ā€˜04 Lexus IS200 and have loved cars my whole life, though found myself falling into the culture when I was about 15. I’m attending Japfest with some friends this year and would love to swing by your area if that’s still possible.

I was hoping to take her to a scenic spot to take some photos but early sunsets and northern rain have stopped me from being able to. Either way, here are some pics! When the bank account recovers and I’ve had her properly sealed I’m looking to get some tasteful bronze alloys fitted

Hi Thomas and Welcome to the ClubšŸ‘.

A great story and introduction of yourself and your beautiful beast. A lot of members here had boyhood dreams that eventually came true.

Of course, please come along to the GTOUK stand at Japfest and introduce yourself, we’re a friendly bunch, but be prepared to go home with a ā€˜shopping list’ I remember only too well mine and @stevie’s first meet :woman_facepalming::rofl:.
Although ours was no where near the standard yours is when we bought it.

We’re in South Yorkshire, still a bit far for a pint I guess :beer_mug::grin: see you at Japfest.

Tracie :united_kingdom:.

Hi Tracie, thanks for the warm welcome! I’ve been excited to go to Japfest again this year but I’m even more excited now  The shopping list is already long but it can always grow longer…

Oh, was this Sam’s car? I helped him a little on this, he has put a lot into this car and I can personally vouch that’s its really, really nice underneath. I think there were a couple of niggly jobs on his list, some electrical weird stuff but nothing too serious. Whereabouts in North Yorkshire are you?

This was Sam’s car - nice to know that he and it are recognised here! I purchased it on the 31st of Jan. When I went to see it I was amazed by the condition and yeah, you would never believe that the underside of this car is 33 years old. I definitely got lucky that I saw it before too many other people did and was able to put the money down quickly. I live near Redcar

Welcome! o7
Congratulations on achieving the dream! There’s definitely something special about that era of cars.
Likewise, I always dreamed of owning a GTO, or at least something from the 90’s. Every time you get in, it’s like stepping back in time. (complete with the sounds and smells)

You made a great choice. (Also pop-ups will always be cool)
