New to the GTO

Hi all i have just bought my first GTO its a MK1 non turbo they do look lovely, i hadnt seen one of these cars for years and then today 2 days after i bought it i saw a maroon coloured mk1 pulling out of my local garage lovely condition and sounded meaty too, a wave from the driver when he spotted me was nice and i returned the compliment as i believe this is customary. The car has a few small issues which i hope to address over the next few weeks so i may pester for advice if that is ok. Although it wasnt stated on the add my car is an import which the insurance company seemed to rub there hands together when i told them but i managed to get the insurance down to just under 500 fully comp which i still think is a bit much since i only paid a 1000 for the car. Is there anywhere on the forums i can look at a repair manual for the GTO it would be most helpful. I will say thank you now in advance for all the advice and help you may give over the coming weeks.

Hi and Welcome,

A repair manual is in the shop, if that helps, must most of the problems you have someone else would have come across, so will be somewhere within the forum

Thanks Simon, I hope to become a full member by the end of this week.

Hi, welcome to the club, think there is only one burgundy one in the club and that’s daves, can’t remember if he’s that way though. Glad you got a wave!

Dave is about a mile from me in Wiltshire…

Welcome to the club! Insurance wise check out some of the traders on here. If you are still in the first 2 weeks of your insurance you will be able to cancel it. Sure you will find a better policy. I am insured on a modified twin turbo for less than £150 a year. And I am only 25. It is a classic car policy but I believe there is an option to include commuting for a small fee if its your daily. That’s with footman james who is a trader on here.

Hi all sorry to be a pain but does anyone know how I can get my membership number, the insurance company require’s it. Thank you.

GTO/3000GT Owners’ Workshop Manual on USB Flash Drive now available in shop.
